French Girls Room
I’m very excited to share the redo of the French girls room today. I’m not finished, but I’ve already made some big changes. Yes the framed dresses are down, but they will show up again somewhere… I hope you like the changes.
I shared my vision for this room recently, CLICK HERE.
As you can see I love a two color palette. More color is coming, but you get the general idea. I kept the nightstands, lamps, and the linen sheets on the beds. I also kept the benches at the end of each bed and the baskets. I have a linen sheet on each bed that acts like a coverlet.
Below, you can see that the first change was to mount the bed coronas on the wall.ย ย
Next I changed the headboards, changed out the bedding, and hung the curtains. I found the metal headboards charming, but felt they lacked heft that the room needed. I also loved the colorful bedding, but wanted something more subdued. I still have the bedding and may use it somewhere else. I removed the euro pillows. I love those and I hope I can use them elsewhere. They were just overpowering the headboards.
I have several things I still want to do to the room. For example, I hope to slipcover those benches at some point. When I took the beds apart, I decided it was a great time to wash the bed skirts and the bedding. I also had to iron all of the new bedding.
The beds have cotton bed skirts on them, topped by a vintage monogrammed linen sheet. It might not have been very “Frenchy” before, but it’s truly a French girls room now.

The headboards, and bed crowns have been discontinued so I don’t have a source for those. The curtains were provided byย SOFT SURROUNDINGS
The bedding is from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child, CLICK HERE. The room is so cozy with the lamps on.
The lamps are old… very old. I’ve replaced the lampshades at least twice.
It’s a very different look than I had before. It’s much more French, which I love.

Good morning! The room looks so lovely! One question – the night stands – where did you get them? They are probably an antique find but I am hoping not. They are just what I am looking for! Thanks!
Anita says
Laura, yes you are correct. They are antique, but fairly easy to find where they sell French antiques.
Laura Laskey says
Thank you!
Pat M. says
The changes are amazing. Once those benches are recovered, it will be perfect. I love the pink/blush/lavender color (can’t tell exactly from the photos) of the comforters. Very French and very beautiful.
Anita says
Pat, I guess I would call it a soft blush on the duvets. Thank you!!
Joan says
The headboards are to die for and I’m loving the new color pallet. Well done.
Anita says
So glad you like the look. It’s so fun, and I have more to do in here.

Anita. This room is stunning. I would say this bedroom should be in one of your magazine articles…when I saw it I gasped. This is perfect now..watched all the blogs where you have tried to get it perfect. I do believe you are there..God Bless.
Kathy McCann says
Your girls’ room is lovely and very inviting. Glad to hear Molly is on the mend.
Anita says
Thanks Kathy. She has been very pampered this week!!
Marcy says
Cute as the splashy floral bedding was, I really like the new simpler pink duvets. The nightstands with the lamps make the room look so much more comfortable and useable.
Anita says
Thanks Marcy. My daughter loved the splashy duvets although they weren’t exactly my style. Evie says she loves the new look, so everyone seems happy.
Jennifer Peterson says
I can just picture three girls giggling in the night! It’s a beautiful room.
Anita says
Thanks Jennifer! My daughters love the new look.
Vicki says
Beautiful, I loved the room before but this is striking. I am new to your blog so wondered if this room is slept in daily or more for show? And do you only use a sheet and then pull up the duvet? Just curious.
Great job!
Anita says
Hi Vicki, Thank you!!! It is at our farm, so it’s not used every day, but when we are at the farm, it is definitely used. The duvet not going to be used very often because we’re in South Texas, although I’m not opposed to the girls using them.
Cheryl @ Artzzle says
Wonderful new look here, Anita. You’ve put me into my “Spring change out” mood. Hope I have as much fun with it as you did ๐
Roni Greene says

She’s almost back to normal Tricia. Thank you.
Tricia says
Great to hear!
Sarah says
I love the changes! My girls would love a room like this. I actually like the benches as they are. I feel like the provide a nice contrast to the other lighter colors. But you are the expert!
Ginger Valdes says
Iโm moving in.
Anita says
Ha! I’ll let you and Peggy fight for the third bed!
Ginni says
Oh, Anita! I really did not think that this room could be any cuter- and then- WOW. I have been reading for a while, and I love how you have transitioned this room over the years. Well done!
Anita says
Oh Ginni,
You are so sweet. Thank you!!!
Portia says
I think you really nailed the French style bedroom with this latest update. Itโs beautiful! Your girls must be thrilled.
Nancy Smith says
I love your blogs and woukd like to ask if i need a rug pad under a piece of bound carpet on engineered wood floors
Anita says
I think a rug pad is a good idea, but please do be careful. Some of the cheap ones stick to the floor and can damage it. I don’t always use one, but that’s me.
Jenny says
This bedroom looks beautiful. I love the curtain on the wall behind the bed and the new headboards, thatโs my favorite part. Iโm sure your girls love it. Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday. Hope to see you at the party next week.
Jessica Conick says
The transformation is beautiful!
Anita says
I’m so glad you like it! It’s so cozy in person. The Soft Surroundings curtains are gorgeous behind the beds.
Cari says
Anita…spectacular as always! The headboards and bed crowns are no longer available and the curtains are from Soft Surroundings…how about the duvet covers…can you provide a source for them?
Anita says
The bedding is from Restoration Hardware.
Barbara Chapman ~ French Ethereal says
Love, love, love your girls’ bedroom!!! Of course I pinned a bunch of photos to various boards but especially to my Ethereal Bedrooms board as it is MOST appropriate! ๐ I just love how you’ve given it that beautiful French feel. Wish those headboards were still available… I’d order a couple and put them in storage for our next home. ๐
Lovely, thank you for sharing,
Barb ๐

The new look is so soft and girly girl. Too bad I have all boys and grandsons or I would copy your room! I am about to recover 2 chairs and I want light neutral for the fabric. Calico has Crypton in Sunday – Crypton Home – Eggshell which will be perfect to use with all my fellas. I enjoy your posts.
Deborah says
Anita, you have done a fabulous job of decorating and designing this room! I love country French also. So beautiful! I enjoying listening your DTT podcast !
Anita says
Oh Deborah you are so kind!!!
Anita says
Deborah, thank you so much. I’m thrilled you are enjoying the podcast. We love recording it!
Ashley Byrd says
How long is the wall with the beds??? I am wondering how many beds can I fit in my space now. Great job!
Anita says
Ashley, this room is at our farm, and I am not there, so I don’t know. I would determine how much room you feel you need between beds, then do the measurements for your room. Really you might not like how close our beds are, so it’s more important to do the measurements for your room. I think the beds have only about 2 feet between each bed. You might be comfortable with more or less than that. It’s a personal preference.
Margo says
While looking at this post an ad for Disney kept popping up. How appropriate! This room is fit for a fairy tale princess! Just so beautiful.
Diane Corsaro says
the room is darling, wish my girls were still young and at home. I would copy this room for them

I love this look!!! I was wondering if you could tell me the best height fir a lamp on a 26-27 inch high table by my sofa. Thx!
Deb G says
Really, realy exquisite!
Don’t hate me but I have to admit that I thought the “Downton Abbey” look was pretty cool too. ๐
Barbara Chapman says
Hi Anita! I just reread my previous message (from 2018) and yes, I still love the headboards but right now I’d love to find a corona like yours… I am looking for something nice to make our mbr look very French. I have my French armoire, French Drexel desk and my French commode/dresser in there and a corona of some sort would be perfect!
Stopping over again from French Country Fridays this week,
Hugs,
Barb ๐
