This project was so much fun. I worked on a Texas Flip N Move house with Kelly of My Soulful Home last fall. The episode finally came out April 27, #904 and so now we can show you behind the scenes photos. Texas Flip N Move airs on the DIY Network owned by HGTV. We did not appear on camera sadly, but you can see our handiwork on the show as we helped the Snow Sisters decorate the house for auction.
When we arrived, this is what we found. They were scrambling to finish the work on the house, meanwhile there were just 2 days to get the house decorated.
Here is some of the detail on the walls. I like the molding, although I would have painted it the same color as the wall.
They added some nice columns to the open concept room. Everything is on such a tight schedule that the cleaners rarely arrive before I have to start work. So what do you do? Grab a broom!
They were behind schedule, so we staged the things for the house nearby, until after the construction was almost finished. This is our pillow shelf. Note the limited color palette. See the white bust to the right of Kelly? We called her Yvonne of Stone Gable, since Yvonne couldn’t make it for the fun.
This is what the kitchen looked like when we arrived.
Today’s podcast episode is Deor tips we learned from blogging.
Here is the cool wallpaper they found for the bathroom.
We grabbed armfuls of things and threw them on the bed. Did I mention the tight schedule? I think I did.
Here is the other bedroom below. Kelly cleaned everything! I may be the neat freak, but she’s the clean freak.
Here is the finished living room. I think it came together well. The funny thing is that we were trying not to overlap, but Kelly would put flowers on the shelf, then I would move them, then she would move them back. Oh my, too many cooks in the kitchen, but we didn’t have time to coordinate everything. Remember the house had to be done in 2 days. And really the house wasn’t ready for us to move things into it until the second day. We were bone tired by the end of the day.
I really liked these cool chairs in the living room.
Here’s the dining room. As you can see they were still working on the kitchen while we set the table! Kelly did all of our floral arrangements. Yes they are fresh flowers.
We asked them to paint this cabinet gray, then loaded it with white dishes. I liked the pitchers in this cabinet.
Hmm, this isn’t the way the room looked in the end. I’m pretty sure I didn’t put that flower art there. It got moved in the end.
Here’s a corner of the same room.
Here is how the other bedroom ended up. We used a navy, yellow and gray color palette for the entire home. That isn’t a color combination I’m crazy about, but I think they work for this house. You have to think more about what your client wants than what you want, if you know what I mean.
It was a fun project and Kelly and I had so much fun. She was a great work partner. I’m not going to lie, I was exhausted when I got home and took a long nap. Literally my boots fell apart while I was working the second day. I wish I was making that up. You can see the other Texas Flip N Move house I worked on by CLICKING HERE.
