This project was so much fun. I worked on a Texas Flip N Move house with Kelly of My Soulful Home last fall. The episode finally came out April 27, #904 and so now we can show you behind the scenes photos. Texas Flip N Move airs on the DIY Network owned by HGTV. We did not appear on camera sadly, but you can see our handiwork on the show as we helped the Snow Sisters decorate the house for auction.
When we arrived, this is what we found. They were scrambling to finish the work on the house, meanwhile there were just 2 days to get the house decorated.
Here is some of the detail on the walls. I like the molding, although I would have painted it the same color as the wall.
They added some nice columns to the open concept room. Everything is on such a tight schedule that the cleaners rarely arrive before I have to start work. So what do you do? Grab a broom!
They were behind schedule, so we staged the things for the house nearby, until after the construction was almost finished. This is our pillow shelf. Note the limited color palette. See the white bust to the right of Kelly? We called her Yvonne of Stone Gable, since Yvonne couldn’t make it for the fun.
This is what the kitchen looked like when we arrived.
Here is the cool wallpaper they found for the bathroom.
We grabbed armfuls of things and threw them on the bed. Did I mention the tight schedule? I think I did.
Here is the other bedroom below. Kelly cleaned everything! I may be the neat freak, but she’s the clean freak.
Here is the finished living room. I think it came together well. The funny thing is that we were trying not to overlap, but Kelly would put flowers on the shelf, then I would move them, then she would move them back. Oh my, too many cooks in the kitchen, but we didn’t have time to coordinate everything. Remember the house had to be done in 2 days. And really the house wasn’t ready for us to move things into it until the second day. We were bone tired by the end of the day.
I really liked these cool chairs in the living room.
Here’s the dining room. As you can see they were still working on the kitchen while we set the table! Kelly did all of our floral arrangements. Yes they are fresh flowers.
We asked them to paint this cabinet gray, then loaded it with white dishes. I liked the pitchers in this cabinet.
Hmm, this isn’t the way the room looked in the end. I’m pretty sure I didn’t put that flower art there. It got moved in the end.
Here’s a corner of the same room.
Here is how the other bedroom ended up. We used a navy, yellow and gray color palette for the entire home. That isn’t a color combination I’m crazy about, but I think they work for this house. You have to think more about what your client wants than what you want, if you know what I mean.

It was a fun project and Kelly and I had so much fun. She was a great work partner. I’m not going to lie, I was exhausted when I got home and took a long nap. Literally my boots fell apart while I was working the second day. I wish I was making that up. You can see the other Texas Flip N Move house I worked on by CLICKING HERE.

Wow, Anita! I love what you and Kelly did! I can see that it would be exhausting. I must say I am not a big fan of that color pallet. I guess I am just old, but I like a house that is light and airy. My favorite piece was the gray cabinet with the white pitchers. That was really stunning!
The bust you named Yvonne!! Too funny!??. She was there in spirit!

It turned out very beautifully, but I’m with you Anita…I don’t care for the color combination personally. Thanks for sharing! I always can find inspiration in all of your projects!
Blessings,

I just recently watched this flip and have to agree with other comments. I don’t mind dark bedrooms, but I feel that the paint color was way too dark in the living and dining rooms – and yellow/gold is probably my least favorite accent color in decor. With that said, if the couple who purchased the house like it, that’s all that matters.
Anita says
Pat, well the wall color is decided before we ever get there. Yup, it’s all about making the home owners happy for sure! And it was fun to do something very different than I normally do.

I didn’t think for a second that you chose the wall colors. I watched the episode from beginning to end so I know who chose. You two gave it a great look.

I think someone set that picture there, and oh well! It got taken down before the camera crew came!
Janet says
I would like to know where you got the curtains in the bedrooms please.
Anita says
Janet, those were left over from another house they did. I don’t know, but I am guessing they were from Home Goods or another type store. The decorating budgets are very small.

Thanks for sharing, Anita! Very fun to see… and I actually liked the color palette (thought I probably wouldn’t use it myself). You did a great job!
Peggy says
Wow! What a challenge! Ya’ll did a GREAT JOB! Like you and others, Anita, too dark for me too,but I guess it just wouldn’t do if EVERY one liked the same things, but I love the added columns, the kitchen floor, and, those CHAIRS in the beautifully arranged living room look SO very comfy too!!Looks great!!

Anita – what fun to look back at these photos. It was such a whirlwind I don’t think we even swapped shots. We definitely worked hard and stretched our creativity to make what was available look great. Our tiny budget allowed for so little. We “HELPED” with capital letters and had billboard sized FUN!!

I love the “pop” of yellow in each room with the gray. You both did a great job. I like the living room the best. It looks very cozy and layered and evolved with time. It does not look like a “flip” living room. Yes, I like the chairs too. They are perfect without arms to give the room airiness.

When the $$ is low and the end results are high, all I can say what a way to go girl, because you nailed it. Thanks for sharing.

Anita you bring joy to my life.
I moved into my tiny home the end of November 2017 and I love it.
My walls are similar but lighter they are Sherwin-Williams pussy willow
and they’re beautiful. I have them throughout my two bedroom.
The surprise color in my house turned out to be pink in orange and it’s really been fun. I’d like to send you a picture. I guess I don’t know how.
it’s wonderful to watch you grow and change and hear about your girls.
I am very pleased to listen to your Podcast.
