Wildflower Party Back Porch

By Anita 35 Comments

There’s lots more pictures of the ranch party to share.  You may have seen the first two posts of this party, here and here.  Now, let’s move onto the back porch.

This is where people gathered as they arrived to hear some Texas Swing music from a rockin’ Texas band.  I love a fiddle, and I loved their music, great job guys.

Mr. CH roped off an area off of our driveway for guests to park their cars.  He mowed this area as well as our driveway.  Yes, you heard correctly, he mowed the driveway.  What can I say, only in the country!

My daughter and I cut lots of Bluebonnets for this party.  I offered for guests to take the cut Bluebonnets home with them, but I didn’t have any takers.  They mumbled something about cutting bluebonnets being illegal, and not wanted to get caught with them in the car.  You would think I was trying to hand out illegal drugs.  I did do some research since I had heard something like that before.  I found that picking Bluebonnets is not illegal, but the things people do to get to the flowers is often illegal, like trespassing on private property.

I didn’t just fill up these Tony Lama’s with water.  I put a glass jar in the boot and filled it with water, then added flowers to the jar.  That worked quite well. Can you see the field of blue in the distance?

I also filled these Ikea vases with Bluebonnets.

I just love Bluebonnets.

In this photo below, you can see the pendants I made in a previous post.

I used my coke crate to display more Bluebonnets.  I used empty small supplement bottles in each cubbie to hold water and flowers.

The table is covered with a drop cloth.

Below you can see some of our guests enjoying dinner at the table.
Here’s another shot of the flowers before our guests arrived.
I put some more wildflowers in a pitcher and placed it here.

I wanted flowers in every corner.

If you have been to my blog before, you may notice that this table is new.  This is a stainless steel bar height table that I bought for Mr. CH to use as a work table.  He says the other tables are too low, and require him to bend over too much.  He’s 6′ 2″.  I got this one at Ikea.  I also needed a work space since I sometimes cook outdoors with my electric skillet.  The rooster lamp is inherited.  Can you see the shadows of the pendants against the wall of the house?  I just got a shot of the corner of the table, since the band had some of their equipment on the other side.
Did you miss any of my other party posts?  There right here.

WOW! The bluebonnets are gorgeous and I love all the different ways you displayed them, especially the boot. I have a cousin who lives in Texas and plays the fiddle and we love to hear her play when she comes to Kentucky!

Anita, that looks like just the most fun ever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bluebonnet in person so I really enjoyed viewing all your lovely arrangements.

I would have loved to take some bluebonnets home! I was just looking them up, because I wasn’t familiar with them, it seems we can grow them over here. Now all I need to do is find out where to buy some seed!

Anita, everything looks beautiful, and the bluebonnets really make a stunning backdrop for your party! I’m glad you cleared up the legal issues, I’d heard that before as well. The blue-violet flowers in those chartreuse glass vases look SO great! And the clever way you added every-day utilitarian containers to your vintage pieces and boots is something I need to file away for future reference…

Oh, this whole scene really appeals to this Texas girl! Looks like a great time. I grew up believing picking bluebonnets was illegal…didn’t learn that it wasn’t until a I was an adult. I think the the powers that be are probably just fine letting us all believe it’s illegal though. 😉
