Vintage Bedding Details

By Anita 13 Comments

Ever since I found my antique French linen bed spread for my room, I have been looking for more wonderful vintage bedding for my house.

I found a set of 4 matching vintage pillowcases all with hand crocheted lace edging.  I thought these would be perfect for the girls room, since I need 3 pillows here, one for each bed.

I love the look of these old pillowcases, and love these wonderful hand-made details.  Why is it that fresh, clean sheets with sweet little details make us feel like we sleep better?

My girls love to sleep in this room, and Evie thinks this mattress feels better than her city one, when really they are both the exact same mattress.

This is NOT what the room looks like when my girls are in here, just in case you are wondering.

I added the baskets at one point, to help contain all of their personal items.

The red striped pillows were made from vintage feedsacks.  Come back later this week to see the new headboards, and lamps. They are so adorable and you won’t believe where I found them.

This is one of my all time favorite rooms. Looking forward to seeing the new pieces. I love collecting pieces with crocheted edging too.

So very pretty! Where did you aquire those from? We have some, sort of like that, that my husband’s grandmother made for our wedding 37years ago with blue wedding bells.
I have a love of vintage and any beautiful linens/fabrics.
I have been collecting for years, too, and have wonderful pieces.Mostly estate sales.
The other day I remembered a beautiful handmade bedspread that has balls on the edges-all knit or crocheted. Not sure. But it is white and dreamy, so I rewashed it and tried it on my antique bed. It fit perfectly and is just right for this room. (My son got married this summer so I made this room into a gues bedroom.)
I can’t seem to find others in my family who love these things as much as I do, but I have two possibilities. One is my 5 year old granddaughter, Rachel. Yesterday I showed her the bedspread and she thought it was beautiful, so I told her about other linens I had. She said let me see, so I showed her. She loved many of the pieces I had collected and would comment on how pretty they were. Then after dragging a gold tablecloth around the room, she saw the pink lace table cover I made for Valentines Day. She goes “Oh, look at the roses (she loves flowers) and the color”-pink. So she ended up taking that home even though my daughter wasn’t happy with more stuff. BUT her take on it is she wears it knotted at the waist like a dress and walks around regally!
The other possiblity is my new DIL who loves doilies, so I am working on her! LOL I am slowly giving her handmade beauties and I see she is using them.
Aww, what a beautiful sickness. That and dishes and well, the list goes on…
Have a very Merry Christmas, Anita!
Looking forward to more photos/posts of your beautiful home and creative decor. You do a beautiful job.

I am a sucker for vintage linens. My bed is piled with pillows housed in whatever piece happened to catch my eye at the brocante that day.

Can’t wait to see what you have found!

There really is nothing better than fresh, clean vintage sheets to sleep on. The remind me of sleeping over at my grandmothers house. A wonderful memory.

The girls room is very pretty!
