Sunset Supper

By Anita 40 Comments

I love my “sittin’ spots” and have spent hours scouting the ranch, for the best locations to hang out.  I have several but this one is a real favorite because of the view.

I love this spot on our ranch, which I call The High Spot.  I call it The High Spot since from an elevation standpoint, it’s the highest spot on the ranch. I know, clever name, right?  Yes, I know I am “Captain Obvious.” But really, isn’t it a lovely view?  Here you can see the neighbor’s barn in the distance.  To the right of the barn, you can see something that looks like a little roof.  That is the roof of the pier at the neighbor’s pond.

Our house is to the left, down the hill a ways.

We set up a table here recently to enjoy an evening meal.  This is my kind of date.

I opted for our Portmeirion dishes and my pink flatware.

I used my Ikea enamelware pitcher for a vase.

The watermelon was delicious.

The sun was setting which cast such a lovely golden light on everything.

The fields were freshly mowed, and the scent was fresh and welcoming.

We had to throw the table and chairs in the back of the ranger, to bring them up here, since it is a hike from the house, and definitely “off-road.”

It was a perfect evening, sitting outdoors at my favorite place, watching the sunset, enjoying a meal with my sweetie.  It felt like we had gotten away without actually going anywhere.

You must truly love to hang out here! It’s so great to take any opportunity we can to just ‘get away from it all’ as a couple and enjoy each others company like we did ‘at the beginning’ of our relationships! Thanks so much for sharing! That is incredible that you would take your table and chairs and food such a distance. But then a good view is certainly worth the trouble, isn’t it, especially if the field is freshly mowed. Can’t beat sunset under those conditions. Thanks for going to the trouble and sharing your view with us. It’s nothing at like the view here, which is heavy on the palm trees, which are nice and all, but I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of life in farm country.

I pinned the picture of your neighbor’s barn to try and paint! It is incredible and you captured the perfect lighting. I have been gone for some time, but see that you have a party!
