Painted Candle holders

By Anita 15 Comments

Oops, I did it again. Yes, I have a paintbrush, and I’m not afraid to use it.

Do you see my candlestick holders?  I love these babies, but a few weeks ago, I wasn’t so crazy about them.

When I bought them a few years ago, they were green, yellow, and red, and went perfectly in my house at the time.  Now… not so much

I considered giving them away, but decided to try painting them instead.  (Sorry Peggy!!)

As you can see, I didn’t worry about perfection, when I was painting.   I’ve found that sloppiness sometime has an artistic look.  People think you did it on purpose.  Works for me!

The gray color goes well with the lavender in my paintings and on my TV cover. Yes, there’s a TV hiding under there. You can see how I made it here.

Now, what should I paint next?

Great! I’m doing the same, I run around the house with a tin of paint and a paintbrush, I paint frames, flower pots, tuna tins. White, blue, pink, gold.

Step away from the paintbrush and build up that “give away” pile! (They really do look good.)

I agree, I too have embraced the sloppy = artistic = did it on purpose. Who would know any different?

What I’m loving is that fan! I’ve never seen one like that. Is that a recent find?

They are very cute. Amazing what a little paint can do. Just found your blog. I moved to Dallas, TX 3 years ago, still adjusting. Would love it if you could stop by my blog at: http://homeandlifestyledesign.blogspot.com

I like what you did to them. I love those painting’s in the background. Where did you get them? Or did you paint them as well?

I like the gray, I always see so many things I want to paint but always chicken out. Last thing I did was a rocking chair, which I attempted to paint and it was a disaster 🙂

Good thing you didn’t give these away. They are adorable in both color ways. ‘-)

Wow! Amazing how paint can change the feel of an item…. The grays work so well with the rest of the vignette.

    Anita,
Love, love, love the candlestick make~over, dear friend!!!
    I’m chuckling to myself…
My beloved Mother~in~law when into marathon painting mode each Spring.
My Father~in~law ( Matt Dillon type) always said, “Don’t lean against anything, Pat…Mary’s got the paint brush in her hand and nothings sacred!!!” They are so~o~o sorely missed!!!
Thanks for reminding me of all the JOY and love we shared with and through them!!!
Now…post what you paint next!! (wink!)
    Fondly,
    Pat
