Guest room tweaking

By Anita 27 Comments

I added a few little things to my guest room, just in case you stop by for a visit.

As you can see the be BEFORE photo below, the shutters behind the bed add interest, but I thought I still needed a focal point.

So I added this simple botanical print.  As is often the case, I shopped my house. The price is always right!

To hang the artwork it was easy to find the center. Since the dead center would be in-between the two shutters, I used hanging hardware that uses two nails instead of just one.  One nail went in the left shutter and the other one went in the right one.  I used the same kind shown here at Amazon (not a sponsored link)  but these can probably be found locally as well.

I also added a duvet at the foot of the bed.  I love how it makes the bed look so inviting.  I bought some vintage linen sheets recently and since I haven’t had time to sew a duvet cover yet, I simply wrapped the duvet in the linen sheet.  I could get used to these no sew projects!  I knew you wouldn’t mind.

I brought in some fresh roses for you too. While I’m waiting for you, I think I’ll just take a little catnap. *yawn*

It’s a beautiful room, Anita. I love your toile bedding and I like to put a big fluffy comforter at the end of my bed, too ~ it looks so comfy. No sew projects are the best kind too!!

Such a lovely and inviting room. I adore the toile bedding, and I agree, having a comforter at the foot of the bed really adds that cozy feeling! What a difference it makes to add just that one special piece! Beautiful room!

    Anita,
Freshening the Guest Room often puts me into the “nap” mode!!! I read once where you should spend a night in your Guest Room, so you’ll know if anything is missing before your Guest arrive. I’m afraid I’d realize what a great room it is and never get back to my own! Ha!!!
Your Guest Room is lovely! The addition of the print above the bed is like 7 minute icing on a red velvet cake!!! Simply divine!!!
Have a Happy new Year, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

Who wouldn’t want to stay in your guest room? It’s so pretty and inviting. I love your tip of wrapping the duvet in a sheet, perfect for non-sewers.

Your room is very pretty, Anita, and the new touches are lovely. I especially like the shutters and the basket at the end of the bed. The wood chest of drawers/dresser is a stunning piece. Wishing you and your loved ones all the best in this New Year!

I was wondering what item number for the louvered doors you used from Lowes. It really is beautiful. Any information would be helpful.
