Beamed Ceiling – New House Update

By Anita 24 Comments

Oh I love it when things work out like this.

Bad news, the plans for our new house had a column at the end of our kitchen peninsula that would have made the breakfast room seemed closed off from the rest of the kitchen and living room.

Insert sad face here. 🙁

Good news, my builder, Ridgewater Homes, worked with the architect to remove the column and instead went with a cased opening.

Insert happy face here. 🙂

He also said that to make it look planned, he would add beams to my kitchen.

Insert happy dance here.

I think they did an awesome job, don’t you??

Can’t wait to see it all finished – and have one of your great meals in that kitchen! (I’ll help, of course!)

Way too cool! I love it when a builder knows his stuff and can do such great things like this! You have an over-the-top wonderful builder there – you know that don’t you?! 🙂

Anita I think it looks fantastic. We had to have a beam that runs through the middle of our entire downstairs open area. I ended up distressing it to make it look old & weathered….and I ended up loving it.

It’s all coming along so nicely!!

Anita, I love this! We had a similar issue and went with a cased opening as well but I LOVE your rustic beams much better than my trimmed out space. All those soon-to-be glass front cabinets and those to-the-counter cabinets are awesome! Love it! At least I assume they’ll be glass front. Did you have something else in mind?

Thanks everyone!! The cabinets will be glass front, and the color on the cabinets will be SW Eider White, which is ever so slightly gray.
