But thanks to a an old belt that no longer fit, I now have two straps on the front of the basket. If you look closely, you can see that they are not the same.
This beauty is much bigger and heavier than it looks.
The baskets add texture to a room, and the bigger the better, in my book.
To better show off the basket I removed the pediment from the armoire. Okay, total disclosure here, I never liked the pediment.
This basket may look like another antique, but I actually found it at Hobby Lobby about a year ago.
The basket below, another one from Hobby Lobby, is large enough to hold the extra pillows and bedspread at night.
This little basket below was a vintage sewing basket at one time. I set it on this antique French chair, and it covers up the fact that the chair is missing some of its rush seat.
Here’s another antique basket on my back porch. I think it is more flat than it was when I bought it last year, possibly because one of my kids sat on it. Oh well, more antiquing, right?
The prices vary depending on where you find baskets, but certainly if you want a good deal, I would try consignment, resale shops, and auctions. That concludes my basket tour.

This post is resonating with me because I find myself pulling out some baskets for spring this year and wondering if I should put them away until fall. But I’m loving all the different shapes and sizes and texture as well. You have a wonderful collection!

You’ve got some beautiful baskets, Anita! Love that one on top of your armoire {which I also like better without the pediment}. I don’t usually see anything too big, but GW and my local antique mart have baskets galore!

Anita, I also love baskets. I believe it is the mystique involved with them, especially those with covers, because I also love boxes and trunks of various description and the possible treasures inside. Your baskets are all wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

I love this post as I too love baskets. I use a large one for a side table in my living room, then for storage under my coffee table, another to hold blankets and I am sure my collection will grow as my cottage decor evolves. Maybe then I will be inspired to do a post such as yours *wink*

What big beautiful baskets. I had a wild idea to sell mine when we were moving and I was changing my style of decor. WHAT was I thinking?? Now I am restarting the collection, but I am no where near the beauties you have.

I love the big basket on top of the mirror. One can never have too many baskets. It evokes so much warmth and adds texture and an an organic feel to a room. Not only do they add texture, they are useful for storage. I have baskets all over my home. Now I’m adding wooden textural lamp shades to the mix. These days I’m loving the look of browns and organic textural items for the home and baskets top the list.
Anita @ Cedar Hill Ranch says
Christine, I don’t leave it out all of the time. I used to, but it began to fade. Definitely if the weather is wonky, I leave it inside.

I am bonkers for baskets. I have had to limit myself to certain shapes and styles. I love that vintage sewing basket!
