Artwork Above a Bed

By Anita 17 Comments

When I finished sewing the bedding for my bedroom and making the slipcover for my French settee, click here, I wanted something a little more striking for that space above the bed.

This is a difficult space to work with, since most artwork isn’t wide enough to look good above a bed.  I found exactly what I was looking for – a detailed relief of a Parisian Architectural find from Ballard Designs.

Here’s a look at what I had above the bed in the past.

I just love this piece, and it is sized perfectly to go above a Queen bed.

The raised detail is really much prettier in person.

I know there is less color in the room, but all of the dark browns in the room really add a nice richness that just can’t be beat.

This piece just makes the room feel so… so… Frenchy!

I smile every time I walk in the room now (as long as the bed is made.)

What do you have above your bed?

I was not compensated by Ballard Designs for this post.

Thank you Brighton Park for sponsoring Cedar Hill Ranch and funding projects!!

I think you made a perfect choice. Looks really beautiful over your bed. I checked it out on Ballard Designs and thought your photo looked better than the ones they used. It’s a perfect piece for over the bed! Didn’t like it so much when used over a bookcase or shelving.

    Hi Anita,
I love the piece you got from Ballard. So much nicer than the picture. I will need to see if Ballard will ship to Canada. Unfortunately lots of the really nice stuff you can get in the USA is not available to Canada. Your room looks beautiful!

    Anita,
    Oh~la~la, so~o~o Frenchy, indeed!!
The Ballard designs piece is also, so~o~o Anita!!! Love your choice of darker, warmer wood tones with your current color palette!
Above our bed. . .a vintage print of roses in a double mat with a golden frame. For the romantic in me. . .and a reminder of our wedding flowers!!!
    Sweet dreams, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
