My Clawfoot Tub

If you happen to be a guest in our home, and you need to eh hem.. you know… ‘powder your nose’, then you will probably see this room in person.
h powder room
I painted the vanity myself using SW Pussywillow, then added metallic accents using gold metallic paint. After that I antiqued it using a dark wood stain. I didn’t even wax it although I think it would be better if I did. Also I would not recommend using stain to antique something. It is thin and splashes everywhere. I really recommend dark wax like Fiddes instead since it is easier to control where it goes.

I loved designing this room, although it is the smallest one in our house.
Very simple clean lines with a rockin’ sink is what I call it.  the counter top is River White granite.  The tub and tub faucet is from Vintagetub.com

Yes I got my clawfoot tub. Sure it’s a small one, but isn’t it adorable?

People often ask where they can buy what I show here, so I found some similar items at Amazon if you are interested.

I thought the room called for a very old, antique gesso framed mirror.

And if case you need them, I’ve got fluffy white towels rolled up under the sink in a basket from France.

What a precious place to powder your nose. I have a clawfoot that was converted to a pedestal that my husband bartered for. My favorite after work place to stop and regroup. I just posted pics yesterday on my blog. Your house is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

What a cozy, charming room!… The tub is great, but your sink steals the show – fabulous! I adore every room in your house that I’ve seen so far. I’m repainting on Friday and am dying to know what color you used on the majority of your interior walls?

Love your sink! Tell us about it! Antique? Marble / ironstone / milk glass? Can’t tell from the photo, but it is so pretty! Thanks for sharing your darling powder room.

LOVE your vanity/table—-what is it? Did you paint it? The color/distressing is just lovely—such a pretty sheen!

The carpenter built it and yes I painted and distressed it. I’ll provide more info later.

It’s paint, with gold metallic paint in places covered with a dark stain.

    Gorgeous Powder Room, dear friend!!!
I’ve owned two clawfoot tubs, but at my age I’m much safer with the shower!!! Ha!
Thanks for sharing another room in your lovely new home!!!

    Anita,
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, mine certainly was! I love your bath. I also have a small bathroom, but with a shower instead. I have hooks on the wall next to the shower with a basket with our towels rolled. Also an new “old” cabinet with glass doors for our soaps and other toiletries. the sink is definitely un-exciting, but with a lovely mercury soap dish, sandalwood soap and some lovely lotion bottles, it is fine. There is a fabulous old mirror over the sink which adds so much to the room. It actually is quite nice. Thank you for sharing your room with us. Blessings, Linda

What a gorgeous bath!! Love the vanity you painted too. I use a gel/rubbing (water-based) stain to antique a lot and find that works easier than wax. It’s pretty thick, but not as thick as wax and tends to go on easier. It takes longer to dry, though,
