Hello everyone, and welcome to summer. I am loving the time off from school.. the easy days, the sunshine, and even the heat, although at times it can be oppressive.
I love living outdoors and the summertime means spending time in my favorite place in the whole wide world…
my back porch.
Summertime means spending time at the local farmers’ market selecting the best fruit and vegetables we can find. YUM!!
Like watermelon,
green beans,
and peaches. We can’t forget the peaches.
Another favorite part of the summer for me is spending time napping in the hammock. I love an outdoor nap, with a cool breeze.
Another favorite summer activity is arranging the wildflowers that grow in our pasture. Its amazing how many wildflowers grow here on their own.
I’m not much of a morning person, but I love to get up early here so I can see the morning mist. Often the deer are out in plain view this early. It’s so peaceful and quiet.
Some days we hear our neighbor landing his plane in the nearby pasture. He commutes to Houston for work, flying instead of driving.
Although this area is famous for its spring bluebonnets, the bluebells make a lovely showing in the summer.
I love to gather some up to enjoy on the porch.
We have no TV or internet here, so fun is made the old fashioned way, outdoors.
I have a confession to make…. I have been in Paris and Tuscany for the past few weeks, and so I didn’t have time to take new photos for this post. I ended up using photos I already had. Okay I feel better now.
On a related note, I have many, many projects I have recently completed that will be on the blog in the coming days. I am slaving away editing photos and doing a write up for each one. I hope you’ll come back to see what I’ve got for you. The theme is adding French accents to your home. Merci!!

I loved your photography and could look at those photos over and over! I never knew green beans could look so good-it makes me want to go buy some! I love the fact that you have no TV or internet at the summer house; it must be very relaxing and give you time to get a lot done and enjoy the season.
What do you do to keep the bugs at bay while napping outside or sitting on the back porch? Candles and plants don’t do it for me and I have cats I do not want to poison with pesticide.
Phiomena, there always seems to be a breeze, so the bugs aren’t usually a problem.

Oh your photos are gorgeous…I so love seeing the exquisite vignettes. I can only imagine the view of the mist over the pasture in the morning…what a wonderful way to start the day. I so remember when visiting Texas being so mesmerized over seeing the beautiful fields of bluebonnets.
How lovely to have all those blue bonnets just waiting to be picked. Your back porch seems the perfect summer spot. I can’t wait for your pictures of France.

I don’t care when you’ve taken your photos because they are always exquisite Anita!! I think my favorite one was where I could see a hay bale off in the distance. Just love it! I’m craving some quiet and solitude right now so this looks heavenly to me!

It’s lovely in your corner of the world! I love wildflowers too, and, although there are places to gather some here in the city, Where I am in the country is a much better option. It sounds like you go to France quite often. I’m a bit of a Euro-city mouse too. 🙂 One day we have to swap expedition stories. 🙂 Lovely to meet you thru this tour. I can’t believe it…. I just bought an exact replica of the walking stick with the basket yesterday! I thought I was going to lean it in a corner but I can’t seem to find the right corner…. Isn’t it the most unusual thing you’ve ever seen?

Your photography is so fabulous and what a great way to show us a day in your summer life. I love the images and it really does show your farm life. I registered for two shoot fly shoot courses and I am finally get the hang of things, hopefully my office reveal will have some good shots in it.
I must admit I love the outdoor shots with flowers…I think I spend too much time focusing on indoor shots. The next bit of ‘winter’ sunshine here I am heading outdoors.
