3 Dining Alfresco Ideas

By Anita 20 Comments

When the weather is warm, we love to take our meals outdoors on the back porch.  With the breeze, the fresh air, and the expansive vistas, it’s the place to be.  While it may still be chilly where you are, I thought it would be fun to look at some ideas for outdoor dining.  Here are three of my favorite back porch dining ideas.

Breakfast Bar

Self serve works best at the farm. I don’t have staff like they do at Downton Abbey, so it’s everyone for himself here.  A breakfast bar is a great way for guests to help themselves to tea and pastries for breakfast.

Lavender Table

This tablescape used Bluebells from our fields, and I love the idea of everyone having her own personal vase of flowers at her place.  There’s no bad seat here.

Garden Party

Here I used painted terracotta pots, and filled them with potted plants rather than cuttings.  What a lovely party favor to give each guest their own plant to take home!

Great post on this beautiful Sunday morning! Oh my, I’m crazy about those Bluebells and how special and creative to have everyone having her own personal vase of flowers at her place! What a great breakfast bar, the only way to go when you have all your kids home! Love your blog, it’s fabulous!
    Have a wonderful day

Those are all beautiful tables, Anita! Here in our area we would dressed in snowmobile suits and mukluks using icicles for stir sticks. It is crazy cold here which makes your beautiful tables all the more appealing. Gorgeous-they are gorgeous! xo Diana

The photos look so pretty, I love alfresco dining. We are now at the end of our summer sadly, but still have some good weather hopefully. I eat alfresco daily when the weather permits as I just love to be outdoors.

What crazy weather we are having here in Dallas. Saturday it was a beautiful day in the 70’s and then yesterday I woke up to sleet. Love a breakfast bar for guest – it so much more convenient for everyone to be able to help themselves in the morning to some coffee or a piece of toast – or a full spread. I am so beyond ready for spring to come and stay for awhile. This winter has been brutal.
