Do you rearrange your furniture very often? Have you ever? Let’s talk about why you might want to do just that.
Now why should you rearrange your furniture?
Well the reason you might want to consider it is easy. We all get comfortable with the way our lives are. When we get comfortable, often we like things to stay the same. And some things are best if they don’t change, but some things need to change. If we never change anything in our lives, they can become stagnant. They can become boring, and dull. If you are moving things around you are less likely to get bored with your home.
Another reason is that it’s a great way to give your home a new look without spending any money. If you are on a tight budget and don’t have funds for new things, this is a great way to get a new look in your home without spending any money. I often move small chairs from one room to another. Obviously you will probably keep your sofa in your living room and your dining table in your dining room, but chairs and side tables can easily go from one room to another. Although I’m not talking about changing the function of a room, some people do. I’ve seen dining rooms turned into sitting rooms, and studies turned into bedrooms. My in-laws turned their sun room into a study.
Then there’s the obvious reason to move things around. We set up our furniture when we move into our houses. For some that might be 10 years ago. Then many people never think about it again. So what if there’s a better way to arrange your room? You’ll never know until you try some different configurations. What if you don’t like your room? Maybe you just need to move something in or out of a room. What if that one change makes a big difference? Sometimes it does!
Lastly I think you need to consider moving your furniture around because I believe it will get your creative energy engaged. We need to get out of our homes and see new things to feed our creativity. And when we change things in our homes, that also feeds our creativity. When you are feeding that part of yourself, I think it makes you happier. I am at my happiest when I’m creating.

Great post! Sometimes it is hard to move furniture! My family room is the main one! We have a fireplace two windows on each side of the fireplace. French door in middle of the room. Stairs and door goi g to laundry room. It is a decent size room. The room is not lg enough to float furniture. I finally found a setup that I like. I try to change up pillows, table set up and mantel!
Then not o
Mention my sewing room that is actually my
Formal dining room. I’m always look for a new look!
It keeps me young LOL
Thanks for ideas and inspiration!

I love your post on Rearranging…I do it quite often…It is therapy for me…Plus I can keep my floors a little cleaner..It also is a way to shop your home and BE THANKFUL for what God has allowed us to have…Thank you..My husband wrote a devotion in a devo book that was published…He said we need Gods light for our life If we did not have it we would bump into things…Kinda like when his wife (me) rearranges!!!!! He said I better have a light on when I walk thru the house….Ha

I have a small house with open concept great room/dining/kitchen for living space. Placement of the television (can’t be installed above the fireplace) is my problem when it comes to arranging furniture. I have a very workable solution for it all, but it’s a one-way arrangement that I would LOVE to be able to change. I agree that moving furniture around gets the creative juices flowing.
Wow – first world problems, yes?

I detest rearranging furniture. I change out pillows, throws, etc, to update the room but the rest-bah! Not for me.

Anita… I will spend a LOT of time getting my room arrangements “just right” and leave them that way for a long time. I may move things a wee bit… but really work to get the room flow and conversations areas to be so comfortable that it’s the best way. It might take a few months to get it… and when I do… it feels so good.
Are you selling the two center pillows you are showing between the ticking pillows on the bench towards the end of the post? I think they would complement my large rug beautifully which has a similar design repeated on it. Or… could you let me know the fabric so I could make my own?
Thanks! xo

I, too, love rearranging the furniture. Some layouts make the room feel smaller, cozier. Others make it feel big and open, which is the way I like it in the summer. I have several antique tables that I move from Room to Room for a change. I’m not a pillow person because I never know what to do with them when I sit down, they seem in the way. I have a neighbor who always comments when I have changed what’s in the front window. Who says no one notices?
