Hi there! Happy New Year! Of course, I have interior design wishes, like that my kitchen renovation will be a success and that we will get started on our master bathroom… but in my heart, there is nothing I wish for more than that my adult son and daughter would grow closer, bury the hatchet and become friends. I treasure the friendship I have developed with my brother, mostly since my mother was in failing health. It breaks my heart that these kids hate each other when I love them so much.
I too, like Lynn, have a vision of my adult children reconciling. They have chosen different paths and keep getting further apart. I wish that I can express what I see in my heart, my dreams, my excitement to others! I have been blessed with gifts that I can’t explain. I have a bit of a lazy bone and don’t always act when the fire is hot. I wish to see me move. Move to create more, inspire others, discipline myself and most of all appreciate, appreciate, appreciate!
Happy New Year friend! I do have a few goals for this year including finishing the expansion of master closet. I too want a little private space with a table and chair, much like yours. Our family holds the patent on a product that is more cidal than ozone. My hope, prayer and dream is for the wheels to begin rolling on the manufacture of this product in 2017.

Happy New Year Anita! My goal is to complete the task of opening my retail shop in the spring. It is a huge order to fill but one I’m looking forward to. Hopes and dreams can only come true if we pursue them.
I am estranged from two of my children and so the top of my list each year is that I could have them and all 5 of mine in my life again. This has been going on for several years, but am praying this will be the year. My spouse was narcissistic, controlling, and abusive and my children were all I ever cared about, so it makes it doubly hard. As one comment above states, I love them so much.
I want to be consistent with my new business venture. I want to keep going even when I hit a snag or a mountain. I want to stop defining myself by my past mistakes. I want to keep my mind focused on what God tells me I’m worth.

The year 2016 was very difficult for me. I suffered from depression, anxiety, and panic attacks . That is why I joined your blog. I need more beauty, peace and serenity in my life. Prayer is my strength.
Thanks so much for “making” me write down my goals – I usually keep them in my head – which means most don’t get done! My main goal is to be the woman that God intended for me to be! To purge my life of things not needed – to learn to let go, but keep what brings me joy – freedom from too many things. Enjoy what I have – my husband, my family and friends, my pets, and my home. My dream for this year begin with a better prayer life, and improved health for family members. I’m really dreaming of a general refreshing of our home. After 8 years here, I would love to repainted our interior spaces to make it lighter and brighter! I always rely on you for inspiration!

My husband and I renovate houses in a quaint college town in Pa. I have designed at least 15 bathrooms for others. We are finally going to redo the 1980’s master bathroom in our own home. It’s funny but I am much more nervous doing my own reno than when I design for others. Wish me luck!
We are building a new smaller house, a farmhouse with lots of porches to watch my horses in the pasture with a glass of iced tea. It will be decorated French Farmhouse Chic! I’m looking forward to seeing it come to life and making a place for my family to gather and making new memories. I have been very blessed and I will be looking for more ways to share those blessings with others and grow in my spiritual life. 2017 is going to be awesome!!

Ditto what the other Patty said. Fits me perfectly. I do have a start on the declutter, but I need to get with the program and do a little more every day. Because at some point, we must move. I live on property where I have been since I was a kid…. 50 years. It was the last thing my parents left me so I get upset every time I think about leaving. But we have no children to help us as we age and 5 acres can be difficult to take care of. On top of that, it floods here, which will be getting worse as the surrounding farmland is taken over by progress and asphalt. This needs to be a top concern for us, but it’s hard. I also pray that the right job will find my husband. He currently works for an international company but it’s having issues and the top rats are deserting the sinking ship. It’s time to make a change. Or two or three. Happy New Year to you!

My dreams are already starting to materialize. As for my “style” at this point I would settle for a clean house, but settling is not dreaming big. And dreams don’t come true. Goals do but they take thought and action. My goal for 2017 is to make my home a welcoming place.
I’d like for my arm to get well enough to paint and do artwork again. Two years ago I had surgery for a rare form of cancer on my left forearm. It’s well enough for me to sign my name (badly) but not to paint. Maybe it will happen in 2017. Thanks, Klaudia

My goal in 2017 is to be closer to God and I’d love for my 4 1/2 yrs old grandson to walk. Our only grandson was born with a rare genetic disorder – MECP2, because of it he doesn’t walk or talk. He’s the greatest blessing God has ever given me! He’s the happiest, sweetest child most of the time. I just wish he could walk! Anita please help me to pray for him. Thank you, I love your blog. My daughter is and yes that is so hard. I am praying he will walk and talk.
I would like to stop wishing for all the beautiful “stuff” and decorating ideas that I see on all these sites. I I have a lovely new home and cannot replace everything to start all over. My husband and I are in our 70’s and have to appreciate all we do have rather than wishing for more. Our health and safety, love from our family and friends are all we really need.

Most of all this year, I want peace. I have lost two sons and all I have is one precious granddaughter who lives with me due to her mother’s inability to care for her. There is always the problem of coping with someone who is irrational. Anyway, I find by stepping away and enjoying your HD ideas and style.
I have lived in this condo for two years and still not unpacked for a lot of reasons. I’m now doing some major remodeling that will provide me with lots of storage space so my dream is to get everything unpacked and my condo setup so I can move on with my life!
I want to come to terms with this house and decide if it is where I want to stay (i.e. realize that what I have is better than I think) or find the place of my dreams.

We have lived in our home for 12 years and I want to finish my basement. In reality all it needs are 7 closet doors and some molding. Also some new paint and curtains. (Ok, probably a few other items too!) Finding a contractor to come and do such a small job is difficult. I have the fabric for the curtains and I just need to get started. I have brought in a few pieces of new furniture and it already looks better. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Have you done any articles on curtains?
I really enjoy helping people hang pretty things on their walls. I’ve done this a few times for family and close friends and it gives me a lot of joy to help. I’m hoping that in 2017, I will have more opportunities to do this and perhaps also do some “rearranging” in homes to help make rooms more welcoming. This may sound like a very simple dream but it means a lot to me.

I haven’t seen or heard from her and my sweet grandsons in 4 1/2 years, except to express she wants no contact from me in any form and to return gifts I’v sent her. My dream for 2017 is to be able to carve out some time and physical space to do some collage art and to paint some furniture. I would also like to find a way to be able to afford to stay in my house. Either that or to find a fabulous townhouse where I can garden and which I can afford. I could go on and on! I really want my daughter and her almost-six-year-old twin boys who are all living with me to find an affordable home of their own. I need my space and some solitude! Lastly, I hope that, in 2017, I can desire all of this and still be patient and let things evolve rather than struggling to figure it all out. Just to keep my desires uppermost in my mind and heart, but not stress about them.

I very much thank you for this prompt, Anita. After spending 30 minutes or so organizing it all I realize I have a lot to do this year!
First up is helping my mother-in-law get her home in order. Next, I need to set a block of time each day to finish writing the book I started this year. And when I get tired of doing that I have some pictures to draw. Oh, and I need to help my husband realize his dream of living close to the lake. There’s more than enough to keep me busy for months…. all I have to do is start!
This year I’m praying for health, happiness & peace for me and my loved ones. Personally I would like to design and enjoy my surroundings; and be able to share creative beauty with friends, family & customers.

Make my home a place of comfort for friends and family. Seriously, live my best life, like Oprah says. LOL I’m such a hot mess most of the time. No more hot mess!!!
I have been praying for 3 years that my husband will get transferred back to South Carolina which is my home. We have been in Santa Fe for almost 4 years which is a lovely place, but my family is in the South. We have purchased a 2.75 lot and will be building our retirement home when we finally move back. I have been feverishly scouring farmhouse floor plans for 1 1/2 years trying to find the one that makes my heart go pitter patter. Blogs like yours give me great ideas on how to decorate, but I need to find a floor plan to build first. My dream for 2017 is to move back home to family and build our dream house!

My wish for 2017 is to down size successfully. I want to live my true life and that is really doing things my way for the first time. I know that sounds crazy but for the past 38 years we have lived where the job was, sent the kids to the “right ” schools, etc. but it was always the family first. I would like God to help and protect all the little children and animals that cant speak for themselves.
I want to first give God all the praise and glory because I know that he’s working in our lives. My husband and I want to move to Montana so that we can be with our son and his family (and they want us there too). We can’t just pick up and take off though as my husband will need a job and of course we’ll need to find a new home. We pray that the Lord in all his mercy will make this possible for us.
