When I buy things I LOVE a two-fer.
That is something you can use for two different things. And so I try to time my garden purchases around any parties I am having. I use the plants for decor and for my table during the party, maybe enjoy them in the house for a week or so, then plant them in the ground.
These plants are from a new sponsor, Monrovia. Here is a link so you can see their website. MONROVIA PLANTS.
I went to my local plant store to select the plants and was very impressed with how healthy the plans looked and the display for Monrovia was lovely. The nursery had the plants organized by flowering shrubs and water-wise plants. I even thought the plastic pots looked pretty.
This first plant called Emerald Gaiety winter creeper. It’s a hedge plant. I’m excited to get it planted soon in the back yard. I love the small variegated leaves. You can shop for Monrovia plants here. SHOP FOR MONROVIA PLANTS
The other plant is Chinese Sedum which is a water-wise plant. That means once established, it does not need a lot of water to maintain this plant. I like that!
After enjoying the plants for a day or two in the house, I plan to add them to my backyard. I selected these two plants for their beauty. I love the small leaves that both of them have. How do I select plants? Well I look for plants that appeal to me. I also take into account the space, how much light it will get, and make sure the plant has room to grow. I love adding in flowering shrubs as well as the variegated varieties. When you use the variegated plants, you add variation in color even though the plant does not bloom. SHOP MONROVIA PLANTS
I was hoping to get some photos of the plants already in my yard, but the weather has not cooperated. Meanwhile I’m enjoying the plants in their pots as I wait for better planting weather. Whether you choose blooming plants, variegated, or water-wise, it’s always fun to play in the dirt and plant something for spring.
I will also share an observation with you. When I go to the plant store, everyone seems so happy. People are smiling, excited, and sometimes giddy. I’m not making this up. There is just something about plants that makes us happy. I can’t fully explain it, but I notice it every time. Plants seem to be a ‘happy pill’ only without side effects.

What are you planting this spring?

How lovely that is. It makes me want to go to my garden center right now. Such a sweet taste of springtime. I am ready for the cold dreary days of winter to be done. We went home to California in January for my grandma’s memorial service. We went around to see all of the places that we were too young to remember when we left and fell in love – in love with the weather and the places. We came home to freezing temps and an ice storm a few weeks later.
Thank you for the taste of the hope of springtime. ~ Cheyenne

I love double-duty things too. The Chinese Sedum may work for several of my garden spots. With Hubs retired now, we plan on re-doing and adding more pretty outside areas.
Fun post. Thanks.
