Thrift Store Shopping

By Anita 16 Comments

People ask me where I find all of these wonderful old pieces, and the answer is resale, consignment, thrift stores, eBay, local auctions, and Round Top.  A few of the things I have found at thrift stores recently are my silver tray (click here to see post)

this silver water pitcher,

this basket (click here),

steamer trunk (click here),

Desert Rose dishes (click here),

and my Spode Rosebud Chintz dishes.

(As a side note, I have to say that I am so happy to be a part of blogland, where owning hundreds of dishes is normal.  Yay!!)  I took you along for a trip to the auction, click here, and now I want to take you to the thrift shop.

I thought this was a very interesting armoire.  Ignore the football on top.

The silver was scrumptious.

And there was entire room for the dishes.

Here’s my Desert Rose.  I have a pretty complete set, so I restrained myself and didn’t buy any more.

I love these vegetable pieces and have a few asparagus containers, cabbage plates and bowls myself.

I loved these sweet little dishes.

And Spode, I love everything Spode.

I hope you enjoyed our shopping trip.  I know I enjoy it more, when I will get to bring you along.   Where is your favorite place to shop?

Beautiful stuff! I go crazy for dishes too, my family just laughs at me over how many I have. Any chance you’ll share the name of this fabulous store, hint hint, lol?

Oh my gosh! Where do you live??? I mean, our thrift stores are full of junk! Nothing good, ever. I have stopped going because I would never find beautiful dishes or anything like that. Wow! And I am a dish aholic.
So the way we have found good old things is estate sales. Now the prices are different at different sales, but when the prices are half off at the end we have gotten some great deals. That is about the only way I can do it. The antique stores are way to high priced, too.
Love the things you bought! Love your blog!
    Happy thrift store to you!

What a great place to shop. The thrift stores around here are nothing like that.

Hope you have had a great weekend.

I go to thrift stores, flea markets, auctions, antique stores and a little ebay. I don’t do garage sales or yard sales, because I don’t like getting up so early on Saturday -lol..

When I get back to the States next summer I definitely need to come and see Cedar Hill and maybe mom and I and you and the girls can go thrift store shopping! I’d love to shop with you! Blessings to you!
