Sneak Peek at the Vespers area

By Anita 13 Comments

With Mr. CH missing the old family mountain cabin in North Carolina, that we recently sold, he wanted a bit of it here at the ranch.  A short walk from the family cabin was a church campgrounds that had a charming little chapel area in the woods, no roof, just seats, a pulpit and a cross.

So we decided to build another deck in the woods by the creek.  The builder is supposed to add a cross here, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Unlike the other deck, click here, this one is down low right over the water. You can see it to the left in the photo. I just bought these umbrellas and the extra seating recently and brought them down here so we would be have seating and shade ready for the first event.

We are planning to have our church friends out here for what else, a vespers service.

Forgive the mess of the leaves. I just had time to get these photos for you. I’ll sweep and do a proper post later, I promise!!

This little section of the deck where we have the green chairs juts out over the water.  You can see a waterfall, and hear it from here.  You can’t see it from these photos.

Looking back toward to bridge you can see the water to the right.  Now that I have agreed to the cross, Mr. CH wants a podium out here too.  I told him that maybe whoever is speaking can just use a table.  Oh no, apparently that won’t do, so if you know where a girl can find an outdoor podium that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, let me know.  And it looks like I’m going to need a BIG broom!

Leaves and all….a truly serene place to worship, nap and make memories. It really reminds me of my grandparents place tucked deep into the Ozarks…swimming, fishing all those glorious memories!

    Thanks for sharing it 🙂

To me, this is church. Out in God’s creation… with close brothers and sisters in Christ… gathering together to worship.
I would love to be there every Sunday!
Anita, what a God honoring thing to do… podium and all!

What a beautiful spot for anything you use it for. As far as the podium…. I say make yourself a rustic one, as long as you have the right height and width folks will recognize it as one.

I love the sentiment. I wonder if the steel wool & vinegar stain would age your wood there, so it would recede and your furnishings would stand out a bit more? What a lovely spotA

It is just gorgeous and I think the leaves are perfect just as they are.
If it doesn’t have to be a FANCY podium I wonder if an adjustable music stand might work? You can buy them plain to fancy. xo Diana

Just as it should be, God hears or hearts no matter where we worship Amen!

Beautiful calm place to hear the word.
