When I was a kid, my mom had a set of these nesting tables made in Italy.
I don’t recall being that in love with them. To be honest, they were so shiny I thought they were plastic. Turns out I was WRONG.
They are made from plaster and wood. I am really loving the look of these tables… now. I was interested in them, after seeing them on Courtney’s blog French Country Cottage. There they looked so romantic, I decided they were worth another look.
Then I found a set at a place where I often buy furniture. These tables have lots of wear that makes them even more appealing to me. Sure wish my mom had kept hers, but she probably got rid of hers when I told her how ugly they were. #regrettingthatnow
What did your mom have that you overlooked?
BTW, these photos are from the old house. Photos from the new house coming soon. I share a lot of photos from my phone on FB that aren’t good enough to share on the blog, so if you want to see what’s going on, head over to my FB page.

Those are so pretty! What a great find!
I can’t think of anything I overlooked of my mom’s but when I had to opportunity to get things from my grandma’s house I soo regret not taking her 3/4 metal (was it iron?) bed and the little night table with the nilk glass hobnail lamp. At the time I didn’t like milk glass. Now I would die to have that lamp and so many other little treasures in her home! Oh well… 🙂
Happy Saturday!

Like you, Anita, my sisters & I scored a set of these Italian tables in our antiquing ventures early on, and ended up selling in a yard sale because, evidently, not too many others thought that much of them at the time (at least not for our asking & sale prices). :/
Blenko glass art vases were what we had a lot of growing up (WV is home to Blenko). Luckily, two of my sisters each have the best pieces, and the lesser pieces were distributed to grandchildren to remember my mom by when she passed away.
But there were plenty of cool items identifying various eras that my mom just discarded – she kept with trends from the 1940’s through the early 2000’s, much to our dismay now. #regrettingthatnow 🙂

I had a set of those. They were a wedding gift, and a bit old-fashioned when we received them. I used them for years and then (gasp!) gave them to the Salvation Army. Yes, I regret it!

I have a set of nesting tables I inherited after moving mom into assisted living several years ago. She got them from her brother (my uncle) who was an avid antiques collector and during his “senior” years worked in a furniture shop in North Carolina after moving back there from Alabama. They are in storage but I’d love to find a place in my home to use them.
Yours are simply gorgeous!

My mother in law had a set and they were plastic. I think plastic ones were the lower cost version of your lovely Florentine tables.

Those are beautiful. I’ve seen so many different styles lately — I guess they’re coming back in style. They really are such a great solution for small spaces.

Lovely tables. I’m sure we have all gotten rid of something and then thought WHY. The tables are beautiful and at certain times in our life our dislikes change.
Enjoy the tables.

Anita, I’ve always like nesting tables, but don’t have a set. They are so practical! I do have a few small pieces of florentine ware, small boxes and letter holders. They were popular when I was in high school in the 60s. Wish I had a set of the tables. ‘-)

The tables are beautiful!
My mom had three things that I would love to have today. #1 a brass bamboo bar cart… #2 a gorgeous 11×14 Turkish rug she bought in Turkey during the 1960s and #3 a beautiful dusty pink moire skirted chair and matching ottoman that was so comfortable.

Anita,
My mom had a set of Blue Willow dishes when I was growing up that I would love to have. Alas, Mother got rid of those dishes after I was grown.
I am loving your ivy heart wreath sitting on the lovely nesting tables.
Looking forward soooo much to see you new house with furniture…

Anita,
Love those nesting tables, dear friend!!!
My MoMa had a PINK diamond tuffed back couch EXACTLY like the one in The Help!!! I hated it!!! When I first saw the movie, I nearly gasp out loud!!! My MoMa’s (horrible) pink couch! So~o~o glad she gave that thing away!!!
When MoMa downsized to a smaller one~story home, she would occasionaly bring me a “cast~off” with these words, “I think this needs to be in your home.” So~o~o glad she never brought me that pink couch!!! The other pieces she brought to me are now a source of comfort!!!
I’m lovin’ all the photos of your new home!!!
Here’s to a productive week as you continue to make the new house a home!!!
Fondly,
Pat

I recently took a set of pristine nesting tables just like yours from my mother-in-laws home. I was thinking of painting them until I saw yours!
