Meet my new Pedestal Tub

By Anita 19 Comments

Having way overspent on the big boy, click here, I was determined to make at least a modest attempt to not go over budget with my plumbing fixtures. I brought Caroline along for moral support.

MASTER BATH

I know it looks like I’ve gone over again, but my builder says I’m not.  Whew *wiping sweat from brow*.  Did you see it?  The tub, I mean. It’s a freestanding slipper tub for the master bathroom.  This is going to be nice!!  Here’s what will be going with the tub.

We’ll have two of these faucets for our master bath.

I love these rain shower heads; we’ll have one overhead and one in the wall.

GIRLS BATH
For the girls bath, we’ve selected a more basic-looking tub, but it will be jetted.

Here’s what the faucets will look like.  I selected all the fixtures in the polished chrome finish rather than nickel. Why? Because it was A LOT cheaper, and I couldn’t tell the difference.  I didn’t even try to see it, because I don’t want to feel the need to buy the nickel.  Only a few really rich people will notice the difference, and personally, I don’t care if they do.

DOWNSTAIRS BATH

For the downstairs bathroom, we are ordering a clawfoot tub similar to this one.

The fixtures for the tub will look like this.

The fixtures for the sink will look like this.

KITCHEN

For the kitchen I selected more very traditional fixtures.  I know, you’re shocked, right?

I really wanted a farm sink, so we ordered one.  I can’t remember the size, but it will be big.

Here’s the faucet for the veggie sink that will be in the island.

I think these are very classic, elegant fixtures, and they didn’t break the bank.

PS.

Oh of course I wrote this post weeks ago, and I have already changed my mind, ha, ha.

For the downstairs guest bath, I’m going with a faucet that comes out of the wall like this one,

and a vessel sink that looks like a bowl sitting on top on the counter.

Oh… I’m excited!!

I got so caught up in all the awesome fixtures for a moment I forgot they weren’t coming to my house. I even envisioned taking out our jacuzzi and putting that slipper tub under the window. It really would be perfect there…. and the farm sink, yeah I want that every stinking time I do dishes.

Love all your choices. It does get overwhelming though, doesn’t it? Once you get the gist of what you really want then it is easier to go ahead. I think the hard thing is always making that first decision and the commitment that is what you are going with. Nice job pickign fixtures- xo Diana

I’d be excited too! I long for a wonderful tub much like your slipper tub. The fact that it will have a rain shower overhead makes it even more envious. ‘-)
This is going to be a beautiful home, Anita.

Oh so lovely and the chrome faucets are very vintage aren’t they? I am envious. I have built a couple of homes and absolutely LOVE it including picking out all the pretties. I know how hard sticking to the budget is, but looks like your allowances are pretty generous. My current home is also 30 and it needs many things replaced – I didn’t get to pick all the stuff in here – but slowly, slowly if I live here forever I won’t get done because at some point I’ll be starting over!

You are lucky you are getting to choose EVERYTHING!!! We could only choose certain things but that’s fine. Your new home is going to be fabulous!!! I love that slipper tub and also the jetted one. We have a soaking tub in the master but I so wish we could have gotten it jetted. Thanks for sharing your beautiful choices. XO, Pinky

    Anita,
    Fabulous choices!!!
When we bought our 1970’s Ranch Style Home it had $13.99 fixtures everywhere!!! The realtor had intended to use this home as a rental and knew he would be replacing them frequently. We are only the SECOND home owners…and NO renters ever lived here! The first thing we changed were the light fixtures and the kitchen faucet!
The kitchen faucet is the only one we’ve had to replace in the 11 years that we’ve lived here!
I love your tubs…but with each passing birthday, I’m pleased with my lower tub!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

Love all the choices but really like the claw foot best. My grandmother had one in her house. Have a great day! Carol (p.s.-no tears in hubbies eyes this time!)

How exciting! Wish we were choosing fixtures instead of settling on someone else’s…but, maybe in a few more years we will get to have some fun with fixtures and more fun stuff. Keep the teases coming!

Anita, I love all your selections! I think chrome is a wonderful choice. If I were in the market for new fixtures, I would choose chrome too. Can’t wait to see more. ~Kristie
