This is Part III in my series How to determine your style.
If you are just now joining the series, you might want to read these previous posts first.
I am Classic/Traditional/Eclectic/with a bit of Cottage.
Rhoda enjoys color and is a DIY queen (with the help of her dad.)
My style is simple, classic, casual with a small touch of rustic.
Kristi likes clean simple lines.
My style is what I call “collected over time”.
Pinky has some large collections, and these black cabinets with the white dishes make a striking contrast.
Now you’ve seen many examples of different styles and seen what the bloggers call their style.
Now let’s go to our pinterest board called “my style”. Did you create one? Let’s take a look at it. Do you see a pattern emerging? Do you see a certain type of look in every photo? Does it look similar or are they all very different? If they are different, then you have a very eclectic (meaning varied) style. If they are all similar, then what can you call the style?
It’s helpful to name the style. This gives you a phrase you can use when talking with friends, shop owners, or designers working with you. If I know what my client calls her style, that just helps us get that much further down the road. If she doesn’t know and I don’t have any photos to look at, it’s very difficult to help her.
Try to put in a few words what you call your style. I call mine Farmhouse French. I don’t think it matters so much what you call it, so much as you can describe it easily for yourself and others helping you.
So what do you call your style? I’d love to hear what you call it!
On another note, I’m sharing some of my tips on making slipcovers today at the BALI BLINDS BLOG. Come on over and let’s talk slipcovers.

I’ve enjoyed all 3 parts of the series as I’ve been learning about and narrowing down my own style the past year in our home as a newlywed. 🙂 My style leans toward farmhouse mostly. I like to mix the old with the new though, and have industrial touches as well as antique pieces so I guess I am still discovering a name to call it. It’s a fun process to see what works together and makes us and our guests feel at home. I love your style especially!
Thanks
Ashley

“I could live with this”
That’s the name of my style board.
I also have a board dedicated to country cottage (French and English). I would say that is my style, but I also have hints of Traditional, Gustavian, Bohemian,Farmhouse, natural and I love William Morris/Arts and Crafts. I guess one could just say eclectic, but I’m very picky about how I harmonize all the bits. If I could replace some pieces of furniture, I would lean toward Gustavian. While I love blue and white, the whole tone of my house gets warmed up with reds and naturals.
I do like the changing seasons, because I actually allow my different loves to come out during different seasons.
I think one thing that reflects my style is the maidenhair fern. If I had to pick one object, that may be it.
Thanks for the series!
