I love my job! One of the things I do for my job is some ‘shopping’ on Ruby Lane, then I write about the items I’ve curated. Honestly it’s so tempting to buy them, but then I think I better leave them there so you can grab them if you want.
So here are some things I found this week that all have Farmhouse French style. You can click on the item name or the photos to go to Ruby Lane for more information or to purchase.
These old gold wall sconces are so pretty.
I even have a few in my dining room that I painted gray. I like both the gray and the gilded version. The wall sconce featured even has crystals on it, which makes it even more special.
2. Early 1900’s farm crate with hinged lid
This one is really special since it has the hinged lid. Honestly I’ve never seen one like this before.
You could use it not only to store things, but also as an ottoman. Really it has endless possibilities. I use my farm crate to hold towels in the bathroom.
3. French enamel and ormolu box
I’m really fond of this little box. Just look at that portrait! It’s over 100 years old based on the description, and has loads of charm. Who is the girl? Wouldn’t you like to know? I know I would. I don’t have anything like this, so I am seriously crushin’ on it.
In the early 1900’s no one would have thought to pair something like the beautiful box above with the ordinary and simple chicken feeder below. That’s what makes Farmhouse French style so special; it blends both together in a way that works. The simple things bring the elegant things down a notch, and ordinary things are in turn elevated. They work together so that the fancy things are no longer ‘fussy’ and the ordinary things are no longer for utilitarian use only.
This vintage sheep appeals to me on so many levels. First it was probably a child’s toy at one time, so I like to think of a child playing with it, and really enjoying it. Secondly, I think this sheep is really lovely. And lastly I can relate to the sheep, as in ‘We all, like sheep, have gone astray’
I have some sheep in my home that I adore.
So there you have it. If you want to go to the main page, you can do so here. RUBY LANE.
