This is Friday so it’s time for a Farmhouse French Friday Tip 6.
I just give one tip on how to give your home Farmhouse French goodness.
Have you guessed what it is?
A French mirror. I am looking for a mirror that is either French or maybe it’s not French but it has lots of detail. The mirror above is from France and is an authentic Louis Philippe mirror. So it is the real deal, but reproductions are always great.
The mirror below is a reproduction and I like it a lot.
The mirror below (on the left) I found at an auction. It may not be French, but it’s got lots of curves and it is really lovely.
This green mirror is not French, BUT it is full of detail, has chippy paint and is very old. We’ll give it a pass even though it isn’t French.
I love this mirror below. I carried these in my shop at one time. I had a client that really wanted one. I ordered it for her and in the process of getting it shipped through Fedex I was informed it was too big to ship. Grrrr. Oh well.
Here’s another French mirror. It might not be French, but it doesn’t matter, it’s curvy and pretty. I hope I am making the point that you want a pretty mirror with detail.
This was a Round Top find that I painted a long time ago. It is very old. I think the carvings are so lovely.
Lastly we have a mirror that is a reproduction. It is very decidedly French.
And there you have it; add a French mirror to give your home farmhouse French detail.

Louis Phillipe mirrors are a favorite of mine. I’ve been looking for one for several years, but I can’t seem to find any in my area. They’ll stay on my wishlist until I eventually find one though! I have another mirror almost exactly like the one behind the white rooster, and I love it so much.
