I love design books. I really love them a lot. I’m always checking out the new ones and putting a wish list together. I love reading these books over and over again. I have many books that are over 10 years old that I still enjoy. Yes trends come and go, but there good design remains the same. Even old decorating books have something of value in them.
To compile this list, I went to a local bookstore and pulled countless books off the shelf and looked through them. Several were just not my style and didn’t appeal to me, but they might appeal to someone else. So I’m not saying they were bad, I’m just saying there were many that I didn’t want to recommend to you. I figure if you are reading this blog, then your aesthetic is probably similar to mine. So here are some books that I hope to purchase soon.

The cover of The Well Adorned Home: Making Luxury Livable looks amazing to me. And the title really intrigues me. The author, Cathy Kincaid, has been featured in Veranda, House Beautiful and Southern Home. Southern Home is now defunct, but it was a lovely magazine. This book is available for pre-order only. Patina Living is a follow up to Patina Style and Patina Farm. If you follow the Giannettis on Instagram, then you’ve seen their charming goats and other animals. This book looks like it is going to be a fabulous sequel to the other books. CLICK HERE
I still love Brooke and Steve’s first book Patina Style. It’s full of beautiful interior photos and has lots of ideas to love. If you love neutrals, antiques, and simple elegant style, this is the book for you. CLICK HERE.
At Home in the English Countryside: Designers and Their Dogs looks amazing. Susanna Salk is a prolific writer of design books, and this is her latest book, now available for pre-order. She has authored many beautiful design books. Am I judging the book by its cover? Partly, but I also love dogs, so this is going to be a good one, I can feel it! Susanna is the host of the video series Quintessence you can find on Youtube HERE. I love watching her videos that she coproduces with Stacey Bewkes. For more info on the book, CLICK HERE
Near and Far: Interiors I Love, written by textile designer Lisa Fine. In the book, she takes the reader to her homes in Dallas, New York, and Paris. What a life! The cover looks so dreamy. This book is also available now for preorder. CLICK HERE.
Soul of the Home: Decorating with Antiques looks so pretty. It looks like it is the first book for the author, Tara Shaw. She seems to have a beautiful way with antiques. She’s been a designer for over 20 years. This book is available only for preorder right now. CLICK HERE.
Actually I wasn’t going to include my book here, and then I thought that there might be someone new here that isn’t aware of my book. So here it is. This is the second edition of French Accents. CLICK HERE.
If you have some design books that you would recommend, I would love to hear about them. I’m always looking to add to my collection, and I know other readers would love to know about them.
