I am going to tell you a little story. In my younger days, in our old house, we had very ugly windows. I tried to fix one of the windows by painting the sashes and jambs of the window. I used metal paint. I think you know where this is going. As you might guess the window looked even worse. And because I used oil-based paint, the paint was almost impossible to remove. I made a bad situation much worse. It looked so bad, I can’t even describe to you how bad it looked, and no I don’t have photos!
I wish I had known about how easy it is to have a window replaced. I would not attempt to replace a window myself, but typically it can be done easily by a professional. Had I understood how easy window replacement is, I would have just replaced the window rather than avoiding that part of the house. I finally put a curtain up to disguise the window.
Gorgeous windows (and flooring and walls) are the foundation of a gorgeous room. Get the foundation right, and it’s a lot easier to make everything else look right.
Below you can see a home with Milgard aluminum windows.

My preference is a wood window, which is what we have in our current home.
We used the same wood framed windows in our guest quarters.
Milgard Windows and Doors has a large selection of wood framed windows.

The ones shown are stained rather than painted, so many great options.

An elegant window really does add so much to a room, just like decorative moldings or a gorgeous wood floor.

I will put their name on list of companies. Windows in Florida have to meet such strict codes which makes them very expensive. I will stick with what we have until we really need to replace them.

Tuscany! We have an old Craftsman home built in 1918. Our large front bay window needs to be replaced with something more efficient.

Ultra , we are starting a build soon and these are one of the windows we are considering. Main drawback to this brand -no real option for diamond paned windows for a Tudor. As they are a local company, we are looking anyway. Dreams VS Budget, and they have one of the best warranties in the industry .
