I love shopping for old things with a past, so I enjoy going to auctions, resale shops, consignment stores, and antique venues. Recently I attended an auction, blogged about here, and this was my exciting find, a lovely antique pine chest of drawers. It needs some clear wax, but I am too busy with a painting job to do that right now. Here it sits in our guest room.

My other recent find is a basket from the thrift shop. You might have recognized it from the post on my back porch redo, click here. When I found this basket, I decided it would be great to have on the back porch.

When we aren’t at the ranch, we cover the tables with tarps and remove all of the pillows and fabric. I needed a place to store the tarps when they weren’t in use. I thought this was wonderful for just that. I paid $75 for this one, which was a better price than what the baskets were going for at the auction.
I think it made for a great end table.
LOVE, LOVE the basket – I’m thinking leave it the way it is!
Thanks Stephanie. I REALLY do want to know what everyone thinks.
Great basket. I’ thinking you should leave it like it is. It’s a nice contrast to the grays you have going on, and the color harkens back to your farmtable.
Your taste is impeccable, so whatever you decide will be right!
Anita I think it would look beautiful either way. LOVE your new dresser! Martina
Anita, great find with the basket I love it the way it is too…. have a great weekend
Wonderful finds! I agree with Stephanie – leave it!
I’m doing a link up in July for people to blog about their best thrift store (or ebay or yard sale) treasure find. I’d love for you to link up this post (or do a new one). Details are on my blog if you’re interested – you can click the treasure box button on my side bar
There’s a vintage peanut butter parfait glasses giveaway for those who link up
Love that pine chest. What a find. I have a vintage French hamper that looks like your basket. Up to you whether to paint it or not. Mine is still the natural color. I think hubby may kill me if I paint that.
Love the chest and the basket!!! I’m with Stephanie – leave it as it is!!! Wow, I love to resale and thrift store, too!!! Do you ever do Warrenton and/or Round Top. My daughters and I make the fall opening weekend for a girls only weekend. It’s about 4 hours away for us, but we have such a good time and find lots and lots and lots of treasures!!! Blessings
Sounds like the votes so far are all for no paint.
Don’t you dare paint that basket, Anita! It is gorgeous the way it is!!! LOVE the pine chest of drawers . . . the detailing is lovely.

The tribe has spoken; I’m not painting the basket.
I, too say NO PAINT!! It is so beautiful now! XO, Pinky
You always find great stuff!! I too like the basket the way it is. I love all the white and graywashed things around now, but think it’s best not to do everything that way. There will come a day when we all get tired of this look. That’s why I always like a mix.
I really enjoy your blog and want to give it the Stylish Blogger Award. Visit me here: http://fosterandboo.blogspot.com/ to collect it!
Awesome finds!
Still blogging hopping from WW.

Everytime I click on something really cool at a link party, it brings me to your site! If I am not already a follower, I will be in a minute! Lovin’ the pine dresser! AND that basket on your porch!! I have a small one very similar that I use for picnics…my suggestion…don’t paint it! The natural color is so pretty and I bet it will age some just sitting on the porch!! Of course, whatever you do will be beautiful! Christie at Three Pixie Lane
I think Google is acting up, but please do follow when you can, and I will follow back when it allows me too. You are so sweet Christie. Going to check out your blog now.

One more vote for ‘no paint’ lol
GREAT idea to use it for tarps & table – it’s a lovely addition to your porch!
You got some great stuff there. I love the chest and would love to fill it up. I like the basket the way it is, but have faith to know if you painted it then it would be beautiful, too.
I’m a new follower from Home is Where My Story Begins.

NO to Paint. What a great looking piece. Thanks for sharing with my newbie party.
I like it the way it is too!
I vote for leaving it! Love the cute chair next to it, and your pretty chest of drawers.
Just because it’s old, doesn’t mean we always have to “fix” it. That basket is one of those pieces because it’s pretty as is. In fact, both of your finds are beautiful!
Great find. No paint. Looks good as is.
