I am really excited to have Jennifer from Town and Country Living sharing ways to add summer style to your home. I love her style and asked her to share some of her wonderful ideas with us today. Lots of great ideas here and you get to see her beautiful home!
Hi Everyone! I’m Jennifer from Town and Country Living and am honored to share a little of myself and my home with you today here at Cedar Hill Farmhouse. I think I’ve been following Anita’s blog before I even started blogging! Since we’re in the midst of summer I thought I’d share a few ideas on how to add summer style to your home. It doesn’t have to break your bank and a few small changes can make a powerful impact.
1. Add an Outdoor Rug to a Porch or Deck.
You can find outdoor rugs on sale all the time, and often you’ll find a coupon online for additional savings. An outdoor rug is easy to clean and is a great way to add color and pattern to a space.
2. Swap Old Porch Cushions for New Ones
Rather than buy new outdoor furniture, simply swap out cushions and pillows for a new look.
3. Decorate with Flowers from the Garden or Field
The fastest and easiest way to add summer color to your home is with fresh cut flowers.
Can you believe I found these yellow beauties growing wild alongside the road?
I brought them home and tucked them in my favorite enamelware pitcher. So easy!
4. Edit Vignettes and Simplify Color Scheme
Pare down vignettes so you have less dusting to do during the summer.
A simple white and wood combination in the kitchen is soothing, light, and airy.
5. Freshen a Room with New Pillows
In the family room I swapped out my big heavy pillows for smaller ones from Walmart.
Yes, Walmart. The sunny flowers and stripes are whimsically perfect for summer.
6. Add Summer Fun Color to Houseplants with Button Flowers
A super easy way to brighten up a houseplant is with easy-t0-make button flowers.
7. Freshen a Bedroom with a Light Summer Quilt
Your bedroom will get a whole new look simply by replacing heavier bedding with a lighter look.
I swapped out my heavy down comforter with this discounted flowery coverlet from Laura Ashley.

Fun and exciting changes always lift a homes spirit !
Sometimes and old colourfull shirt will make a great slip for a pillow over.
See you soon Anita.

I bought those cute pillows at Walmart in the spring to brighten up my chair and white couch. They have a larger one that matches. I really enjoy them.
