Artwork that won’t Break the Bank

By Anita 5 Comments

Recently I showed you this gorgeous artwork in my home, CLICK HERE. Some of you asked about where you could buy it. I’ve been working with the artist to see if I could offer it to you here, and now I can!

Here is the information if you would like to purchase one for yourself.

I love buying artwork from local artists. I get beautiful artwork, and support an artist at the same time.  So much is made overseas, I really get excited when I get to buy a painting from an artist that I get to meet in person.

This is not the original painting, but you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.   It’s a giclee, which means the painting has been carefully printed on canvas or artist paper.  This one I have is a stretched canvas. The artist, Linda Shobe, lives in the Forth Worth area.  If you want one of her original paintings, you can buy one, but I have to warn you, they are thousands, and thousands of dollars. That’s more than most people can afford to pay for one piece of artwork.

I love Linda’s work, so I talked with her about what we could do to make her work available to people who weren’t millionaires.  So we put our heads together and came up with the idea to offer this fabulous artwork to you here on my blog.  These are giclee prints of her work, NOT originals, which is why the price is much lower.

Now having said that, you will see that you can probably find artwork somewhere else cheaper. But what you are getting at that cheaper price is artwork that was probably made completely in another country, and you will know nothing about the artist or about the art. Often this cheaper artwork is not printed with archival ink, which means it can fade and yellow over time.

This giclee is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper .

Here is how the process works. You can order it with the buttons below. The ‘Born To Die” Giclee print is only printed once it is ordered.

The giclee is printed with archival ink.

It is a SIGNED, NUMBERED, LIMITED EDITION.

It comes with a Provenance of the Image, and a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.

Because they are NOT mass produced, please allow three to four weeks to ship. Once I receive your order, I will send along your information to Linda, who will work with her lab to get your art printed.  Your artwork is custom made when you order it. She does NOT keep it in stock.  They are photographed by David Wharton, professional art photographer. David travels the US, photographing artwork for museums and galleries. He has photographed thousands of works, including works from Michelangelo and Picasso.

This guarantees the highest quality and resolution of the image. Once they arrive you can have the fine art paper framed.  I’m leaving that to you, since doing it before shipping would make the shipping costs nutty.

This piece is called BORN TO DIE. Here is what Linda has to say about it. Provenance: “Born to Die” John 3:16 For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son. This is the gift we did not earn. I have always been humbled by such a gesture of love. Seeing any infant, so loved by its parents, perhaps dressed in a baptism gown for his big day, makes me realize what God gave us.

For years I’ve had a fondness for ecclesiastical antiques, and when I found this old brass banner stanchion, tucked away in the dusty corner of an antique shop, I knew it must come home with me. someday it would hold something very special. I am usually at a loss to explain how I get my ideas for paintings, but when I got the notion of hanging a baptismal gown on the arm, I knew exactly which gown it would be. This is a family heirloom worn at a baptism in 1906. Just exactly who stitched this gown, is a fact lost in time. I would imagine a loving grandmother or aunt. I’ve even pondered about the design of the needlework. Could an expert identify the stitching as a common pattern from Scottish-Irish origins? Most likely, I will never know.

She can only ship to the 48 contiguous states.

Thanks for offering this piece of art at such a good price! The imagery is really stunning. The viewer’s perspective, looking up, makes this piece so dramatic.

Stunning art piece. Immediately ‘presumed’ this was a baptismal gown for an infant. Then, looking longer at the piece, saw the Cross imagery then the name “Born To Die.” Having children & grandchildren, I have also had those same thoughts and just couldn’t imagine the depth of love God has had for all of his earthly children to sacrifice his only son.

This painting is so hauntingly beautiful!!! Giclee pieces are amazing! I have a few and they are almost as wonderful as the real deal!!! Thanks for letting us know about this wonderful painting! A real oil would cost at least 10 time that!

I think that the print is so beautiful and it is so cool to hear what prompted her to paint this image. I love John 3:16 and it is impossible to think of ever “giving” your only child. What an awesome God we serve!
