2012 Recap

By Anita 20 Comments

It’s been a full year for me, and my, wow what a year.  My house has changed dramatically.  Thanks for all of your wonderful inspiration and advice; it’s gone from lots of reds to whites and neutrals. I want to mention my friend Caroline, since I decided to take the neutral plunge after seeing just how gorgeous her house was.  (You would really enjoy seeing her lovely home, if she would just let me come with my camera some time.  Maybe if you leave a comment saying you want to see more, she’ll let me take more photos, HINT HINT.)

Caroline’s Home

Thanks to Caroline, and my blogger friends and readers, my house has been transformed.  Here’s my bedroom, after I made bedding and slipcovers.

White Linen Bedding

the dining room, after I made some major changes,

Frenchy dining room

and the living room, after I made slipcovers for all of my furniture.  (I still haven’t painted the walls, yet, but I’m thinking about it.)

Linen slipcovers

This was the year we had our first party at the ranch.  We timed it so the bluebonnets would be in full bloom.

Wildflower Party

We added a daybed to our Tree House,

Treehouse Get-Away

And tweaked our back porch.

Back Porch Living

What a year.  We are also building a new city house, and I’ll be doing another update soon.  I’ve got lots to pick out, and I need your help selecting finishes.  (I’m trying to decide on lighting fixtures over my island and breakfast room right now, so if you have any suggestions for me, please let me know.)

So that’s a wrap.  What’s in store for 2013?

Well, I’ll have lots of posts on the new house as it should be completed by summer. I’m planning to do many of the paint finishes myself, so I’ll be sharing that process with you, even the mistakes. We also have a new deck by the creek, and I’ll bring you down there for a tour, when it’s warmer.  I’m currently  working on curtains, and some sort of wind break system for our back porch.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I know I say this a lot, but truly I appreciate your visits so much. Here’s a big hug from Texas.

May your dreams come true this year.

All I can say is…AMAZING! Everything, inside and out! I would love to come and sit a spell in the Tree House, have a wonderful meal in the beautiful dining room, an evening drink on the back porch and at least make a visit to your gorgeous calm, relaxing, romantic and GORGEOUS master bedroom! You are such an inspiration to me! Just adore all the slipcovers and hope you show us what you are up too now. Thanks for sharing Anita!!
    Happy New Years,

My dream house contains a really large master’s bedroom. I would like my bed to have red coloured upholstered bedhead because that color suits a master’s bedroom.

Wow, your house looks so beautiful! One can never go wrong with white color. I especially love your tree house, it seems like a nice place to relax and spent an afternoon with a good book. Also, it looks like it was built on a strong foundation. The only doubt I have on building a tree house for my kids is if it’s gonna be safe enough in terms of foundation and accessibility.
