I remember sitting at my kitchen table one night, when I saw the email from Romantic Homes Magazine, saying they wanted to feature my blog in their magazine. I actually jumped up and screamed, and screamed, and screamed some more… LIKE A GIRL! I really didn’t care that my family was staring at their normally composed wife and mother.
This has been a dream of mine for a long time, to have photos of my home in a magazine, and this is not just any magazine, but one of my all-time favorites.
I adore Romantic Homes magazine. I cancelled an appointment I had for the next day. I had a photo shoot to do!! They asked me to submit a few photos, and since I couldn’t decide I sent a few extra.
I’m glad I did, since they ended up using four of them. I have seen so many talented bloggers featured in magazines, and I dared hope that one day that would be me.
So if that’s where you are right now, don’t give up. Early on, I submitted some photos to a major magazine, and they basically said, “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” I didn’t take it personally, and I didn’t take it as a final answer either. I realized that person at that time, didn’t see a fit. So I kept plugging along, trying to improve my photography, content quality, and writing. And then one day, a magazine came to me.
Here’s the other thing, when I see other bloggers given opportunities I don’t get jealous; I get excited for two reasons. Reason 1, is that I like to see good things happen to people, especially people that I like. Reason 2 is that if it is happening for that person, then it’s only a matter of time before some of that good stuff comes my way. So if you’re a blogger, and you haven’t been published yet, don’t give up, it could happen to you. In fact my friend Pam of From My Front Porch to Yours was featured in the same magazine that I was.
Thanks for inspiring me, encouraging me, and listening when I prattle on about this and that. Now I’m off to have a bit of celebratory chocolate. (I’m getting out the good stuff.)

Certainly just a dream. The name of my blog certainly doesn’t sound too romantic. lol! But it just is what popped into my head when my youngest said, “Mom, I think you should start a blog”. Knew nothing about blogging. Blogged for two years before I even knew about visiting other blogs. Yup, I was a dumb blonde. Hee-hee! I love your sweet blog and style.
