Siding, and Windows, and Doors oh my!

By Anita 19 Comments

It’s beginning to look like a real house.

Here the guys are putting up the siding. See? We’re going to have a covered back porch. It will be much smaller than the one at the ranch, but I’m not complaining.

And look, windows.  You might not be able to tell from the photos, but they have real wood sashes.

Here’s our new bathroom. That room behind it is our new closet.

Here’s some more of the siding going up.  I love the rafter tails. They are the wood boards you see under the roof line. Rafter tails are very common in Craftsman style homes.

I hear about how stressful home building can be, but really this has been so much fun so far. We do have a wonderful builder, and that really helps, plus I enjoy all of the steps along the way.

How exciting! I’m so glad you enjoy the process….so many people don’t. We love building and designing but I’m sure it’s nice to have a builder too! Especially one you can talk to and who listens WHEN you’re talking! Makes all the difference!

The first thing I noticed was your porch! I am addicted to porches… and craftman style homes. They have so much built-in character!
How exciting for you. Thanks for letting us go through this progress with you!!!

Hi Anita, I live on the outskirts east of Dallas. We are trying to decide on windows and saw you went with Jeld Wen. Can you please tell me if they’re all wood, wood clad (wood on the inside and vinyl or aluminum exterior, single or double hung, and about how much it was per window?

Theresa, I don’t remember those details. They are wood, I can say that.
