It’s official. The podcast DECORATING TIPS AND TRICKS has reached its hundredth episode. We began this ride back in February 2017 and now we’re releasing our 100th episode.
I thought it would be fun today to talk about the the some behind the scenes things about the podcast. One of my favorite parts was the launch party we had by google hangout. I sent the girls a mini champagne bottle, a DECORATING TIPS AND TRICKS mug, chocolate and some other assorted items. I made them wait to open the packages until we were all together on a video hangout. Then we did a toast together. Last summer when we went to the Haven blogging conference in Atlanta, we got to see each other in person. Yvonne was in a wheelchair at the time because of her previous foot surgery. (She’s out of the wheelchair now and mostly out of the cast.) Kelly and I took turns pushing her in the wheelchair. It was a fun few days. We’re hoping to do some videos together for you soon, but it’s not super easy, since I’m in Texas, Yvonne is in Pennsylvania and Kelly is in California.
Below is where I hang out when we record. You can see all the velvet fuzz on the floor. This is also where I do my sewing. Yes I need to do some vacuuming.
I love doing this podcast because I love hanging out with Yvonne and Kelly and I love hanging out with you. Today on the podcast we’re answering listener questions.
So when we first began recording we had some technical difficulties and had to re-record episode 1 about 5 times. Hmmmm… that was fun. We were just getting the hang of things. It was a bit awkward, but we knew it would get better. I think the thing I learned throughout the process if you want to get good at something you need to do it a lot. It is important to start even if you aren’t perfect. You won’t get close to perfect unless you do it over and over again.
We still need to get Bobby on the podcast. That’s Yvonne’s husband and he’s quite the celebrity. A lot of listeners want to hear him. He wants to do an episode called ‘The husbands tell all” but Kevin and Peter have no interest in being on our podcast. Honestly when we first started podcasting, I had no idea how funny Kelly and Yvonne are. I also had no idea how much we had to say about decorating. Turns out, we have a lot to say.
If you are a long-time listener, you might have noticed that in the beginning that Kelly and I both sounded a lot alike. We also got confused about who was talking. I would listen and think “I don’t remember saying that.” Then I would realize it was Kelly doing the talking, not me. Turns out when we upgraded to higher quality microphones, then you could begin to tell our voices apart.
One time we recorded an episode and we don’t know what happened, but we all sounded an octave lower. Yvonne sounded like a man. We had to redo that episode also. So that’s the next lesson I learned. It isn’t all going to be a piece of cake. There will be ups and downs. You need to keep going even when things don’t go well.
You might have also noticed that our podcast player changed in July, and the old embedded players stopped working. We switched the hosting for the podcast, and had to change out all of the players on our websites. For me, that was about 100 episodes that were embedded in my website. I had to manually go in each post and change the code for every one of them. That was also fun 8 hours! They are all changed over now, so all of the podcast players on my blog are currently working as far as I know.
But here we are. We get so many fabulous photos of your projects, funny emails, and sweet notes. Seriously you are amazing!!
You can find all of my episodes on Itunes and on our podcast website DECORATING TIPS AND TRICKS.

Congratulations! 100 episodes is quite an accomplishment. I love to listen to your podcast. I horde them so I can binge listen when I have something odious to do to take my mind off my task. Hope you do 1,000 more episodes.
