Summertime in the Country

By Anita 21 Comments

Every spring, I drive by the local farmer’s fields and little stand to see it if it is “TIME” yet.

I never know when exactly he will set out the vegetables from his fields, but I want to be one of the first in line each year.  I can hardly stand to wait for those juicy, homegrown tomatoes, and the wonderful bicolor corn.

And the peaches, oh wow.  Now the Texas peaches are not as large as Georgia peaches, but they are pretty darn good.

I doubt that the cherries are local, but I still enjoy them.

I have found the local produce to be fresher and tastier than what I have found at the grocery store.

These bowls are sitting on a new-to-me vintage grain sack.  I had to buy more, since I used all of the others to make pillows. This one is from the auction.

Here are a few pictures from the farmer’s market where I shopped.

Oh this excites me!!! I love local produce/products! We only have farmers’ markets in the summer here {I wish I lived somewhere where they had them year round}, but I love going.

    Great pictures!

Hi Anita! Oh, all of these veggies and fruits look wonderful. Nothing like home grown ones. Wish I had room for a garden. My backyard is no bigger than a postage stamp! Well, a little bit bigger.
    be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

Love fresh fruit & veggies! I go to a local farmer’s market also ~ a bit tastier than the grocery store choices.

    Hope you’re staying cool!

Look at all that wonderful good for you fresh produce. I don’t think Ga. peaches are very big at all. At least no the ones I have seen. I buy California peaches.

I just love the little roadside stands. Yours looks so lovely. The veggies look so fresh and pretty. I wanted to sign up for a community garden this year, but the waiting list is sooooo long! I would love to not have to go to the store!

It all looks so wonderful! I have my own garden and we are just starting to get tomatoes. I don’t grow corn and I think it is a little too early here for it. I am looking forward to fresh corn on the cob!
