The Scoop #105

By Anita 20 Comments

Oh I hope your week is going well. Are you keeping up with Downton Abbey?  I watched it twice last night, once to actually watch it, and once to listen to it while I wrote the intro to this post.  It’s like a soap opera, but with fabulous clothes in a gorgeous home. What do you think of Mary’s new man?  Well maybe I’m reading too much into it… or maybe I’m not.

On another note, if you are in the Houston area, I would ADORE meeting you.  I will be at the Bissonnet Michael s store on February 16 from 1 – 4 pm. Come hangout and let’s make some crafts together. The canvas craft I did in just a few minutes, and it was fun! The event is free, but you do need to purchase any crafting supplies you use.
(I partnered with Micheal’s and Hometalk for this event, but the opinions are my own.)
Here’s the address because I want you to come.
Houston Micheals Store
3904 Bissonnet St
HOUSTON, TX 77005-1143

Even if you can’t come to my store, the parties will be going on at all Micheal’s stores.

Happy Scoop Day everyone!  I’m tickled pink to be your host this week!

Pink would seem to be a good color to be this week now that Valentine’s Day is just a few days away.  I’ve been totally immersed in the Holiday of Love lately.  How about you?

All of my projects and recipes are easy (I’m all about easy!), so I hope you’ll give one of them a try.

You all shared great projects last week.  I really struggled to choose just a few to feature.

Laurel from the North End Loft missed having her hubby in the room with the rest of the family in the evenings when he needed to work, but didn’t have a lot of space to spare in their family room.  I love her solution for a Family Room Writing Table.

Diane from An Extraordinary Day put together a very pretty Winter Mantel.  Birch branches, pinecones, burlap and bookpage snowflakes – love it!

I’m a sucker for anything red velvet, so Tiffany from Daily Leisure sure grabbed my attention with her easy recipe for Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies.

Jenna from Rain On A Tin Roof gave her grandmother’s corner cabinet a fabulous $15 Hutch Update.  Perfectly updated and styled to bring a special piece into the 21st century.

You guys never cease to amaze me with your vision and ingenuity!  Lyn from Repurposed For Life made this gorgeous Kitchen Island.   You won’t believe what it started out as.

I have to laugh at your description of Downton Abbey because i was thinking the same thing yesterday. It is a soap opera (which I do not like) but it is funny and pretentious and everything in between. LOVE love the clothes!!
Thanks for doing what you do!

What cute little burlap squares …another good idea! Ive been following Downton on PBS the past four years and love “all things Downton”…… I can’t believe I haven’t viewed ahead by watching the season 4 dvd my daughter gave me for Christmas. I want to make the season last and not end; and want to be surprised at what Bates ends up doing to get even…like he said “he learned a lot in prison”…we shall see. 🙂
