The Scoop #103

By Anita 34 Comments

Seriously is it time for the scoop again? The weeks just go by so fast.  I just wish sometimes that things would slow down, but I guess it beats being bored.

My baby is turning 18 this week, so I am painfully aware of the passing of time.  We have started a weekly coffee date, and I am hoping that will help us stay connected as the circles in her life become bigger and bigger.   I hope you had a good week, and thanks for coming back for another fun party.  We are always glad to have you here.

square 1

This week I am painting and sewing so I can show you the new guest quarters.  It’s also my new craft room.  But this weekend it’s going to be the place my daughter and her friends have a sleepover.  Remember how much fun a slumber party was?

Hi, it’s Anita with Cedar Hill Farmhouse hosting the scoop this week.

I’ve been super busy lately with some very exciting things.  More on that later, but in the meantime,

I have two great chair projects from last week that I thought you might enjoy.   The first one is about

sprucing up $5 thrift chairs

iron chair

And the second one is about

making slipcovers for my dining room chairs.

french linen slipcovers

Okay I could go on and on, but I know you are ready to get to the linky party, so here is our guest host for this week.

Hi everyone!  I’m Heather from Setting for Four and I’m so excited to be here guest hosting ‘The Scoop’ this week!

Heather at Setting for Four blog

Setting for Four Home Decor DIY and Lifestlye Blog

I’m a military wife and Mom to two teen boys – our oldest is in Military college and our youngest is in Grade 9. They are both amazing sons and it such an honor to not only be a military wife but also a military Mom! I started my blog 3 years ago, baby steps first then full time in 2013. I love to DIY and decorate my home inside and out, and create a stylish and comfortable haven for our family of four!  I also started my interior design career last year and love helping others solve their design dilemmas and beautify their homes! As a military family we have moved many, many times and often have to be creative with fitting our furniture in each of our homes.  We purchased our lovely 6 year old home two years ago and are in the process of painting it top to bottom, updating the lighting and kitchen and decorating it room by room.

Here are some of my recent posts:

How to Make an Adirondack Chair – the Easy Way!

I also offer online decorating services including Mood Boards, sourcing and answer questions via email; here is how I helped Raeleen with her decor dilemma: Reader Redesign – Fireplace Makeover

I have to admit it was super difficult to pick the features from all of your amazing DIY’s and beautiful projects from last week!  I hope that you find my feature picks as inspiring as I do!

First up, these No Sew Uphostered Chair Makeover from My Creative Days. I love the vintage floral fabric that Lindsay used on these estate sale chairs! Paired with the white paint these chairs are simply gorgeous!

Next, this fabulous Ikea Bookcase/Chest of Drawers Hack from Tasha at A Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body (love your blog name Tasha!). Tasha took some basic Ikea pieces and with ingenuity and paint turned them into these custom furniture pieces for her twin girls’ bedroom!:

Graphic art is so hot right now and I love Angela’s metallic DIY Ampersand Valentine Art from Life in Velvet. This is such an easy DIY and would be perfect for a Picture Gallery Wall or part of a table vignette like this:

Rachel at Maison de Pax turned what she referred to as her‘Swiss Chalet’ library bookcases into these trimmed out beauties with DIY Decorative Molding! Check out the step by step tutorial to see how she did it!

…and let’s end the features with something sweet! Like these yummy delicious Oreo Cookies and Cream Brownies that Beth shares at The First Year Blog. Make with Cookies and ream Hershey kisses and Oreo Cookies – oh my!

Anita, I am totally with you on time passing too quickly. Our baby turns 16 and will be driving. I’m excited for her, but also sad because I’ll miss our car conversations. That is great that you two set up a coffee date. I’m going to have to do something like that with our daughter. Thanks for hosting.

Anita! Love that vintage pillowcase peeking over the edge of that basket (and what else is in there??). Vintage linens are a favorite of mine and my two sisters (Panoply), and I wrote a post on it and linked up with the party.

I feel as my daughters have aged, the bonds are even better – I’ll bet you will too! Enjoy the slumber party!
