Romantic French Table

By Anita 23 Comments

Did I mention that I love dishes?  I especially love vintage hand-painted dishes.

I would like to say these are my favorites, but they are like children; it’s just too hard to choose.  These are especially lovely, though.  They are Haviland, hand-painted, and made in France.  I have five dishes all hand-painted by the same artist.

If you like hand-painted dishes, the following giveaway is going on until midnight, July 2, 2011.
HAND-PAINTED TEA SET GIVEAWAY

This is such a sweet hand-painted dish that I use for small things like homemade fudge.

To go with the French dishes, I thought we should use French silver.  It is a very simple pattern, but I love it.  To see more of my French silver, click here.
The tablecloth is a ruffled shower curtain I purchased for less than $50 at BedBath Store.
This tureen is an antique that we received as a wedding present.
These lovely crystal stems are from my mother-in-law.  Someone broke several of these, but we won’t discuss that.
I thought some vintage silver, pink roses and candlelight would complete the mood.  Every time I use these candlesticks I smile, because they remind me of Hyacinth’s candlelight suppers on Keeping Up Appearances.

Oh my, such beautiful dishes. They are so delicate and so beautifully painted. Your tablescape is lovely and of course I especially love that you added a little silver to it. Gorgeous.

Thanks for the visit and your gracious comments. You asked about the grain sack toweling. I bought it online from a company called Quilter Studio. The have several patterns and a lot of colors. $4.95 yd. Really pretty. Hugs, Marty

Your handpainted French plates are so beautiful. I do have an appreciation for them because my grandmother did porcelain painting. I have very few of her pieces but they are so special to me.

You have a beautiful blog and I am your newest follower.
