I decided to make it rustic, which loosely translated means simple and easy and fast.
First I found a feather pillow that was no longer being used. Then I measured fabric to make a front and back for the pillow. After cutting the fabric, I took a square doillie and pinned to a square of fabric, then sewed it in place. Then I sewed three sides, inserted the old feather pillow and continued to sew it closed. I did measure it so make sure I wasn’t sewing it on crooked, but it did insist on twisting a bit.
You can see that this doillie has yellowed with age.
The cost for this project was a big, fat zero. I had the fabric left over from another project, I had a unused pillow, and a doillie just waiting for its second act. Don’t you love no cost projects???
I almost forgot to mention our Cowgirl Up Christmas in July beginning July 21. Each day from July 21 to 28, we will have a post on a Christmas project. The same post will appear on 8 different blogs.

Really cute idea
Great minds…I like your square one!
Your doily pillow is gorgeous! I have a whole drawer full doily’s that I grab out of all the time for projects!
I love this! Your pillow looks lovely in your chair and room! Thanks for sharing such a great idea! I’m looking forward to Christmas in July! I need some inspiration!
Very pretty Anita!
It looks great, and how satisfying it must be that it cost you $0 to make!
Anita,
Love your “no cost” pillow!!! Placed in the room it is divine, dear friend! Thanks for the “heads up” on Christmas in July…I’ll make note in my calendar!
Fondly,
Pat

Gorgeous pillow, Anita! I do love no cost projects. 🙂
Hey girls! Thank you for featuring my bedroom! I appreciate it!
I am enjoying dollies making a come back. I have always enjoyed them. I like the pillow, very cute.
I love this idea since I inherited so many doilies that my Nana crocheted. I try to use the dresser scarves in the master bedroom as it has a huge brass bed and is a bit old fashioned/vintage by design. I have so many pillows that need a make over and this is so easy that I think I could actually do it. I don’t sew, I actually had to cheat and get help on the very plain apron we made in grade 7 Home Economics! Aced the cooking part but was and still am a clutch with sewing. My hubby jokes that if a shirt needs a button I put the button in one of the pockets and give the shirt to charity!!! Cheers from the west coast of Canada and I so appreciate you posts on FB and also my many visits to your blog. …barby
