I used a cream colored homemade chalky paint, and I used Fiddes antique brown wax to antique it.
And really my favorite here is this adorable little cow that Peggy gave me for Christmas. She gives the most awesome gifts!!
I got these cows at a yard sale.
And these more refined items are three Limoge boxes from travels to Paris, while the little bottles in the background are perfume bottles that Mr. CH picked up on travels to India. He used to travel there a lot for business.
And that’s a little bit of TEXAS and FRANCE all together in one happy, little box.
Wow — it really looks fantastic! I went to check out your ‘recipe’ — I’m trying the unsanded grout (when I have the time) next so we’ll see!
Dear Anita
Excellent work. I love the little cows and how you placed the books along with the mirror.
Have a nice day

Wow you certainly have a knack for making things beautiful! All of my furniture is left over from my college apt/garage sales. It looks rough! This would be a great way to give some of the less worn items new life! Thanks for the idea!!
What a hug difference. I love the “new” cabinet. It looks fantastic!
I am a new follower.

It looks great, Anita. Just perfect for your treasures.
Your cabinet has so much more personality now.

How perfectly beautiful!
What a wonderful difference! It looks great. love all the little things in it, esp the limoge. For years I had some with pink bows in my bathroom to match the decor.
Your chick is too cute too!
It’s all lovely, Anita! I especially like the sweet little cow Peggy gave you. I haven’t tried making my own chalk paint yet. I’d like to try it though!
The first couple of pics had me thinking this was a BIG cabinet. I LOVE IT!!! And, you painted it perfectly, it looks so much better now. Love all your treasures too. XO, Pinky
Peggy is awesome, love that lil cow! Also love the cabinet. Where do you buy your wax? The big box stores don’t seem to carry any good stuff. What kind do you recommend/use?
Toothbrush? Where? Who could notice it with that beautifully done cabinet to see! Its fun to see it filled with your wonderful collection! …and hope you get that critter in the attic…eeeeek!
A fresh and charming update for a cabinet full of treasures!
A little bit of TX and France ~ oh, yes! Your little case is darling. Love the new look, but mostly admire the treasures it holds.
Happy Mother’s Day, Anita! ~ Sarah

Excited to look through your blog!
Oh, I love your little painted cabinet! The finish looks like it’s aged over time and the little trinket boxes and cows look so sweet displayed inside.
How beautiful… Came here from another blog and love what I see… Following you now 🙂
Molto belli! buona serata…ciao
Your paint job turned out great. The little cabinet is such a star now, no wonder the toothbrush wanted to jump on the bandwagon too.
