Have you ever redone your redo? Me too!!
Remember good the ‘ole, now defunct Bombay Company? I bought these candlesticks there years ago, since I loved the shape, but I what I wasn’t so crazy about was the color.
I was looking for something with a more distressed look, so I painted them white with homemade chalky paint, and then covered the paint with Annie Sloan’s dark wax.
I liked the new look better, but somehow, it still wasn’t right. Then I decided to go over the candlesticks again with homemade chalky paint, click here for my homemade chalky paint recipe. Then I distressed the finish by lightly sanding, and applied a clear wax finish. I also, removed the old green candles, and replaced them with white ones.
BTW, the wooden cheese board the candles are sitting on is a recent purchase from Tuesday Morning.
Since I already had the supplies and the candlesticks, the only additional cost for this project was for purchasing the three white candles. I do love a simple, low cost make-over.
Anita I am constantly redoing a redo LOL! Love your candlesticks redo and LOVE that cheese board!
I agree the redo, of the redo is fabulous. I think you got it right:)
That chalk paint is a miracle! I need to try it! Your candlesticks look lovely.
Love, love, love the new fresh look of the candlesticks! They look fresh for spring and summer. Thanks for sharing with us how you achieved the look…it’s great.
Hi Anita, love your candlesticks. I just did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and put bird houses on top. Great minds think alike. Hugs, Chris

Anita, you are clever to just change these up to fit your current style preference. I also miss Bombay Company.
How do you do the logo links in the bottom of your post? ~ Sarah
Anita,
Once I was frightened to do a unique color on a small painting project…until a dear friend said, “It’s only paint. If you don’t like it, you can change the color by RE~ painting it!” Wise Woman!!! I loved the color! I adore what you did with your candlesticks. I liked the dark color…but I’m loving the white!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Love them. I will look up your chalkpaint recipe. I have about a half dozen things I would love to paint.
I am famous for my re do’s! Your candlesticks turned out pretty! However my favorite was the dark wax. But I am a traditional decorator! I decorate with a lot of dark woods.
I am going to have to make some of that chalk paint, and SOON! These turned out great! Love the board from TM also!!
LOVE those white candlesticks.Much softer look.
Love your redo on your redo. And, that cheeseboard is fantastic!
What a great redo! Love the way they look and that cheese board sets the candlesticks off nicely!
love the latest “do”!!
Well, I’m not a painter. But everyone seems to be using this chalk paint. The new look is beautiful!

Anita, these are great! I love them! I loved Bombay and have so many items from there. This is an amazing update!
Yep, you did good
Yes I have redone the redo before too. One time we redid the redo before the first redo ever got done. Am I typing like Dr. Seuss?
Bliss
They look great! Isn’t it wonderful how you can get something ‘new’ for the cost of some paint.
I have redone redo’s quite a bit…and have a lot more of them around here that are now a bit outdated that I could redo…it’s not quite as fun the second time though. I am your newest follower. Thanks for stopping by for a visit, which brought me to your wonderful blog!
great redo. very versatile candlesticks!!
Your revamped candlesticks look good both before and after. I’m really happy to see how dark your “before” wax looked, as I am going to work on a project this a.m. that I need to make darker with wax and wasn’t sure how dark I could actually get it to look. Also, thanks for the heads up on the homemade chalk paint. I would have used p.o.p since I have some already. Hugs, Kim, have a great weekend!
Love the redo of the redo. The candlesticks look great now.
Oh yes, a few redo and redo again, but we learn from the process!
Candlesticks look great, I still have not tried Chalk paint, but it is on my to do list 🙂 Thanks for the follow and I am linky following back, gladly!
The white is by far my favorite! And isn’t it funny that you ended up liking the one with your own paint recipe the best? I’m working on a wooden plate similar to yours, maybe one day I’ll actually get it done.

Love the pretty redo Anita! I am a bit partial to the chippy white these days though my house doesn’t seem to have much of it yet.

I love the redo!! They look like totally different candlesticks. Love that tray! It looks great.
I love the look of your candlesticks! Great makeover. I’m wanting some kinda like those and look for them when I think about it. Not an absolute must have, but if I see them, I’m grabbing them! 😉
Beautiful Anita! White is so striking! I’m running over to see you chalk paint recipe! Thanks!!!
Yvonne
Yep, been there and done that! I love the shape of your candlesticks, too, and they look AWESOME in distressed white with new white candles. I’m a fan!
