Yes, I have been painting everything in sight lately. And my older daughter’s room is no exception. It is finally painted.
Remember the green walls from a previous post, click here? Just in case you don’t, here is what this room looked like painted green.
It’s funny how I just got used to the green paint, and didn’t realize how dated it looked, until I saw the it in this photo. And now for a bit of bittersweet news. Remember Pooh Bear that my mom and I painted before my daughter was born?
He’s gone.
The irony is that I used a Sherwin Williams paint called Bittersweet Stem in this room. I am sad to see Winnie go, since that is a piece of my daughter’s childhood, but we were ready to move forward with a fresh look, and sometimes, it’s just time to let go of the past.
Speaking of the past, the oil painting is a family piece.
Here it is in the photo below. I like the vintage feel of the painting.

Who is that handsome young man you say? Why, that’s Mr. CH, who even at this early age, clearly already understood the importance of a power suit.
I already talked about the rocker and table that are old family pieces in a previous post, click here.
Winnie was sweet, but you’re right. Time to move on. Such a pretty wall color. Love the dresser and the hat!

It looks wonderful. I love the warm color and vintage look. You could take a picture you have of the pooh mural and frame it. That way it is always there to remember.
Love the new look! I don’t know if I could have painted over Pooh though, I am such a sentimental sap and that was adorable! Glad you hired it done and got it done the easy way…I’m sure the painter didn’t cry over Pooh! 🙂
Hi Anita I just nominated you for an award see my blog:)
I was going to say the same thing. Time to move on, winnie was enjoyed and loved for many years.
Her room looks fantastic! I love the color you chose and the minimal accessories look great.
Bye, Bye Pooh ~ we love you too! Such a very, very pretty room! I’m sure Pooh would approve!!
I understand the emotion that is invoved in finally changing a room of a child who is grown and gone. It took me forever & I let him take his furniture with him. I digress.
I do like your changes and think the wall color is really pretty!
Anita, I love the new color in your daughter’s room! Louis Blue is perfect for the chest! It sounds like you have been busy painting! I can’t wait to see your projects! I’m with you on painting the room; a professional can paint a room much quicker than I can. I enjoy painting furniture, not rooms! I just wish more painted pieces would look good in our home. This is lovely!
It’s difficult to change a child’s room I think. It’s like letting go of those early years in many ways.
I love the color you’ve used ~ looks very welcoming and happy! I’m going for a lighter, cleaner look too. I can’t imagine that you’ve done all that painting ~ wow! Will be anxious to see it.

The power suit comment made me laugh! Love the new color and I am always amazed how a new paint job can breath such life into a room.

You are a painting machine! LOL! Your daughter’s room looks great. I agree that it’s sad to paint over special pieces like Pooh but I know what you mean. Sometimes, it’s just time for a change and/or you just have to move on!
Holy crap Batman! I’d take a looooong break after painting all that too! You are a super hero! Careful not to get your cape in the paint can. Come on over here and do some painting! The room looks great! Poor Winnie! It still looked wonderful even after all those years though. My daughter probably would of drawn a moustache on Christopher robbins and horns on Pooh by now!
Great transition…and oh, those life transitions, mixed emotions aren’t they?
Enjoy your new room and your new season of life
I’m heartbroken over the loss of Christopher Robin and Pooh. sob sob
I like the new room, though!
Can you tell that I’m a brand spankin’new empty nester? ; )

Wonderful new room! Missing Pooh is okay, Pooh would understand that your memories are there forever!
I’m sure it was bitter sweet to say good bye to Pooh, but the new look is terrific.
Oh, bitter sweet is right! Love Pooh Bear, but your “new” room does look amazing! Loved Bombay company and have many pieces from that store. Sure wish they were still around! Where did you get your bedding? It is sooo pretty!
Blessings,
Cindy
Do you still have this bed? We have the same bed, but movers lost our head board and we are trying to replace it. I know this is a long shot, but are you interested in selling your bed? (queen sized)
We do, but it’s been painted, so it won’t match your bed now. Hope you find one.
Thanks for the quick reply. Any chance you know what the model name or model number is? We are trying hard to find the replacement because we love that bed.
Nate, the company went out of business years and years ago. So, I think you’ll have a hard time finding it.
