I’m so excited to have Jamie from So Much Better with Age here on my back porch today. She has a gorgeous home, and lots of wonderful ideas. I know you are going to love her.
I’m so excited to be here today! I’ve long been an admirer of Anita and her fabulous blog. It was one of the first blogs that I ever visited and still find it dreamy to this day. She’s truly an inspiration. I’m honoured to be On The Back Porch with her today.
1. Why did I start a blog?
I had been toying with the idea of starting a blog every since I had my first baby five years ago. I left my job as a medical office assistant when I got pregnant and told my boss I wasn’t coming back. I knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom but I also knew I wanted to do something else other than working for doctors. I actually started my blog over three years ago just for myself posting sporadically and I even changed my blog name a few times. I really didn’t have a goal, I guess it was to be creative! I’ve always been a perfectionist, A-type person that does things out of routine and never had the opportunity to just do stuff because I wanted to. It’s my creative outlet!!
2. What was the most exciting thing that has happened to you because of your blog?
My Junky Trunk was published in Somerset Home magazine shortly after I really started blogging and I was over the moon! The other most exciting thing was attending Haven in Atlanta and meeting all the wonderful bloggers I’ve been emailing on a daily basis. It’s truly wonderful the blogger community. I’ve never met a more supportive group of women before in my life. That alone is reason enough to have a blog, in my opinion 😉
3. What is your dream gig or do you already have it?
I think this is pretty close. I’m hoping that through my blog I’ll make more connections and get more opportunities from it. I’m open to the possibilities!
4. What are a few things that readers would be surprised to find out about you?
Well, I’ve recently posted some pretty personal stuff on my blog so I don’t know what much else there is to tell! lol I used to play baseball and ringette growing up.
5. How would you describe your style?
Industrial Beachy French – I love all three styles so I incorporated them into each room. It seems to work! I love French decor but more of an industrial take on it plus I love coastal elements so those seem to always pop up in each room, too, no matter what time of year it is. I think it’s a great idea to just decorate with items that you LOVE. It seems to all work together when you love it.
6. What are your top 3 favorite posts?
I love my
This post still is very popular
7. What advice would you give new bloggers?
My advice would be if you are thinking about it, do it! You could start out like I did by doing projects and posts without no one knowing at first to see if you could juggle the time it takes. Then you’ll know for sure if it’s something that you absolutely love and will want to do no matter how long it takes you. Also, photography is HUGE. Learn how to use a DSLR, it’s a game changer!
