It was a cold night in Texas. Of course the definition of a cold night in Texas is below 60 degrees F.
Any way, I wanted a cozy fire, but we didn’t have any firewood at the house, so I did the next best thing – I used candles. I found a small piece of wood in the garage that was the perfect size to fit on top of the grate, and put several white candles on top of it.
It worked for me, since I wanted ambiance but not too much heat.
I have a DVD of a flickering fireplace, but real firelight (even by candles) is so much better.
My teenager came downstairs, saw the fire and said, “Wow!!” She even stayed downstairs for awhile (Wow!)
All of the Christmas decorations are put up, so it’s time for a cup of tea and a good book in front of the fireplace.
What are you doing to unwind after the holidays?
